I also highly recommend using the wall randomizer on gabob.com, between the wall arrangement and the actual room arrangement it really threw a spicy setup at us this time.
Managed to make it out, but almost the entire group was down to our last stealth.
Has anyone played Burgle Bros 2? Just got it recently, haven’t had a chance to play it yet.

The venue in Morrisville, NC, tickets are really reasonably priced, even for someone who is just interested in going to learn about the sport (I know little to nothing about cricket).
Hoping they succeed in Morrisville so we have the option to go to a game in the future!

Most of the political climate summits and agreements seem about as effective as the old League of Nations was for preventing war, which is to say not much at all.
But even if we do manage to halve our impact, you’re probably talking about a ~2.5 Celsius rise vs a ~5 degree Celsius rise, something like that? That’s still REALLY bad. And I’m honestly pessimistic we don’t realistically end up more in the 3.5-4 degree Celsius arena, because we’re still all doing the same ecologically destructive shit, and in a lot of cases actually doing these things more! Expanding highways, expanding automobile usage, expanding household and commercial power draws. Poisoning watersheds, decimating forests, filling in wetlands.
And meanwhile the natural world’s positive feedback loops just keep getting stronger and stronger. More ice melting, more permafrost melting, more methane being released, more forest fires releasing CO2. Etc, etc.
As I said, ultimately I think humanity will probably survive, we are extremely adaptable creatures. But I’m not very optimistic about the immediate future. 500-1000 years from now, we’ll see. In my lifetime though? I’ll do what I can in my little corner of the world, because it’s the responsible and empathetic thing to do. But immediate big picture-wise, not looking good.
The one positive thing I see happening is that it seems like the return on investment for oil drilling will eventually get low enough to make it not worth it, which will change the picture considerably. I don’t know how far off that is, but I’m quite confident we can’t keep powering stuff with fossil fuels forever, they’re a finite resource and the ROI just over the past century has already dropped dramatically. Can’t believe I’m essentially relying on market forces for hope, but there you have it.

Preferably Brother, but some of the other companies have a golden nugget in their lineup as well. Avoid InkJet like the plague.
(I have an HP LaserJet MFP M29w that was less than ~$150 if I remember correctly. I had to have a little bit of technical know how and googling to avoid installing their shitware package, HP’s software really is the worst but you can work around it. NAPS2 as the scanning software. Boom, functional compact home office printer/scanner that’s been going for a few years now without any issues. And it’s certainly not like the gold standard or anything.)
I don’t know, I understand that the printer industry is horrible (HP, the company that made my printer, might honestly be the worst of them all). But some of it comes down to us, as the consumer. The writer recommends avoiding printing at all costs. Which, sure, plenty of situations I don’t need a printer. But sometimes you have to print something. And in those cases, just do some research, and avoid the truly shitty products.
I guess I feel like I could say the same thing about a lot of products. Plenty of very shitty washers, dryers, refrigerators, etc. out there. Don’t hear people talking about ending their tyranny. Just don’t be a dumb consumer.

The corruption and greed of those with wealth, and the desire for ease and comfort amongst the masses, has warped the political processes around the world, and fossil fuels are what powers the easy train.
It’s a scientific fact that we have caused anthropogenic climate change. Has been for decades upon decades. Scientists have literally been talking about it for well over a century in the context of burning fossil fuels. (I like to peg it to Svante Arrhenius’ CO2 climate model from 1896 as the starting point, but of course he was not the first, simply the first to do a fairly good job of modeling what would happen on a global scale.) Link
It’s over, the damage is almost certainly irreversible at this point, in my opinion. The world just experienced a series of record high days (well since we began recording anyways) Link. You know, like we practically do every year now it seems. Forest fires are more frequent and burning more acreage Link. The oceans are rapidly warming and acidifying Link. It’s really just a question of what kind of toll it ends up taking and how long it takes to really start rolling to where it can’t be ignored and starts having noticeable impacts on the majority of the world.
I do think we as a species will survive, ultimately, but I don’t have a lot of hope for modern civilization as it currently exists, and I am sure we’re going to wreak havoc on the rest of the natural world on the way. I just hope we’re able to at least hang on to the vast stores of knowledge we’ve managed to build up and do better in the aftermath.

So far really enjoying it though! Fascinating and I’m learning a lot about agriculture (particularly of the industrial kind). Also a bit dystopian and depressing at times to see how much we’ve screwed with the natural cycles and processes of the world. Pretty sure that’s going to come back to bite us collectively in the ass at some point, but maybe we’ll be able to keep it going somehow. One of my main takeaways (the author hasn’t said this explicitly, but it’s something I’m interpolating based on the overall big picture) is that at some point, the current industrial agricultural regime in the US based around fossil fuels and corn is almost certainly going to collapse and need to be completely re-organized along different inputs and processes. And that will probably be a very difficult process.

If I’m doing my math correctly that’s 80 patients total in the US per year impacted by the decision and paying higher costs.
I guess where I’m scratching my head, then, is why it’s worth it at all to keep the walled garden. As you pointed out, the scale is fairly minuscule, all things considered. J&J can’t be making much money off of 80 patients in the US paying the higher price, I wouldn’t think. But it is still impacting those certain people more than others based on where they live. In fact, it’s almost a punishment for those patients to live in the country in which the treatment was (I presume) initially developed! I don’t know, just seems a bit asinine to me, if it makes moral and/or financial sense to open up the generic, then just go all the way and make the generic available to whole world.

My friend and I were talking on the phone, and he mentioned he was going to move to a city closer to me. Awesome, was really happy for him. He didn’t know an address yet or anything like it, we just had that conversation about new job + new city.
I immediately got inundated with ads for real estate for sale in the city he said he was moving to (which is not where I live), particularly on Facebook from what I recall. As far as I can remember (which, granted, my memory is faulty) I had not looked up anything related to our conversation when the ads began appearing.
It definitely freaked me out a little bit.

Absolutely love it, I switch positions throughout the workday. Have an exercise bike, my chair, the adjustable desktop riser, and a couch in my office. So I can be horizontal, bike while thinking and answering phone calls/texts, stand at the desk, or sit at the desk.
Of course for intense sessions I’ll typically pick one position and stick to it. Most often sitting or standing. But it’s nice to have options and change things up occasionally. Would recommend. Honestly with the price point you can get these at nowadays, I’d recommend pretty much anyone with an office job give one a try, at least.

For whatever it’s worth, once you get your regular form down, if you get one of these discs it will fill a slot in your bag you don’t currently have anything for on your forehand/backhand as well as those overhand throws, letting you craft some lines that won’t be possible with a less stable disc.
I think I’d probably stick to the overstable classics to start with, if I’m being honest. Can branch out from there of course as you experiment and expand your bag and try new things, but I would recommend grabbing one of the standard 9 speed overstable discs for this. They’re the only things I’ve ever had any success with on my overhand tomahawks/thumbers as well, for what it’s worth. I’m partial to the Firebird myself, that’s what I have in my bag, but they’re all good discs.
- Innova Firebird (9, 3, 0, 4)
- Discraft Raptor (9, 4, 0, 3)
- Discmania Splice (9, 3, 0, 4)

Somehow managed to glitch myself under/off the map a few times in multiplayer mode. In this particular instance, I was playing as Oddjob. My brother and I just laughed and laughed as I murdered him over and over from out of bounds with my hat, completely unfindable and untouchable but quite capable of killing him.
The other times I did it weren’t quite as fun, as it’s very hard to kill people from off the map with the more traditional weaponry, we typically had to reset the game after a bit. Still got a few minutes of feeling like a kid hiding in the retail store clothes rack though before revealing where I was (aka not on the map) and resetting.

If a tomahawk attempt comes out I’m in real trouble lol).
My understanding, and what I’ve had the best success with, is that you want high speed/high stability discs for that overhand throw. Really want it to “flip” into that upside down position as fast as possible and then hold that for as long as possible.
Do you throw any particular brands, or are you open to all of them? Could recommend a couple to try if that’s something you’d be interested in.

But they definitely broke a lot of subreddits with the API change protests leading to the loss of a ton of mods, and losing Apollo (my preferred way to access Reddit) makes it so I don’t visit it on mobile anymore.
But definitely trying to a) wean myself off of reddit and b) help grow other communities. So far I like Tildes the most out of anything I’ve tried so far, we’ll see!
I don’t expect Tildes to be a 1:1 replacement, for sure. But I’m glad I asked the question, have gotten some great replies (and right around when some new ~tildes topic action happened, so it was nice to see the answers play out really quickly, actually). And those helped make me a little bit better at finding some of the stuff that I do want to engage with, which has been nice.
A whole new world…!
This, in my opinion, is a huge part of it. And it’s not just the danger from cars themselves (which are quite dangerous for pedestrians and bicyclists).
It’s also that parents are aware (subconsciously or fully) that there is no neighborly presence they can count on to watch their kids in any way either, since car-centric suburban infrastructure means there’s a distinct lack of windows, shop fronts, or front porches where old grandmothers, friendly shopkeepers, and other neighborly adults help keep an eye on things. (Jane Jacobs talks about this aspect of urbanism in her book “The Death & Life of Great American Cities”)
It might be slight hyperbole, but I think eventually we’ll look back at the past century of development centered around the automobile as an unmitigated social, environmental, health, and even ultimately economic disaster.
