The commentators do a really god job of developing and recapping the story that is being told at the front of the race but often only looks behind at the rest of the pack in fleeting moments such as an exciting overtake. If you keep track of a midefield driver/team you can develop your own story of the race as a whole and also give you an appriciation that all 20 drivers on the track have their own story to tell that can sometimes be even more interesting than who won the race.
Recent intersting stories on going at the moments include:
-
Is Albon struggling against a new and competitive driver in Colapinto like he did against Vestappen when he was in Red Bull in 2020 or has he just had some bad luck in the last few weeks?
-
Can Haas hold back VCARB and get their best finish in the constructor standings since 2018.
-
Can Sauber get a point? (unlikely)
Sometimes it can be even more nerve-racking watching to see if a driver can get 1 point rather than 25 points instead of 18.

I will try and answer your questiosn from my perpective:
-
Most people I know root for drivers first and then teams second. As it is such a small amount of teams and the drivers are the most visable state of change within them it is natural to pick your favourite drivers and follow their careers. With the small pool of drivers it also means they all have an increased media presence you get to know their media presenting personalities quite well.
This may be more of a case in the UK (where I'm from) as there is such a rich heritage of racing in Forumla 1 that comes from the UK and the majority of the teams come from/ are located in the UK it might change my perpective on this. For example if you're Italian you're probably going to support Ferrari as they are an Italian based team. -
Vestappen is currently the dominate force in F1. Like marmite people love him or hate him. He is very aggressive, fast and has always been outspoken but can back it up with his skills in the car. He is probably one of the best drivers ever seen. Outside of the car he is very family orientated and a private person.
Norris is a unproven quanity until this year he has alway had promise and has always had the perception of a future winner/champion but until this year he has not had the car to conistanly win. This comes with add pressure or oversight from outside. Many people seem to think he is goofy but i see many people see this a rude sometime but i think it is mosre down to him being social akward ratehr than activly rude.
Leclerc is the poster boy for ferrari he came up though their academy and has had a very promising career undoubtably he would have won a championship by now but has somewhat been held back by Ferrari as they have had a difficult journey since the Hybrid era started in 2014. He is very charming and humble.
Funnily enough they have all stayed with the team that brought them into F1 s are all very loyal. -
Traditional the big rival in F1 are Williams and McLaren but not since the late 90s when Williams fell off. Ferrari have no rival and many people say that there is no F1 without Ferrari they have been in the sport since the 2nd F1 races ever at Monaco in 1950. Red Bull are comparatively a new team only joining in 2005 but with much short term success.
Big rivalries usually come from rival drivers fighting for championships (Hunt & Lauda, Prost & Senna, Damon Hill & Schumacher, Hamilton & Rosberg, Hamilton & Vestappen). You should watch the film Rush if you want a dramaticised version of Hunt & Lauda's rivalry. You should also watch the documentary Senna if yu want to understand why people say that Senna is the GOAT and more on the Senna & Prost rivalry.
My father was a big Williams fan but I would say I have no allegiance to any of the team I prefer to follow drivers. For me I love supporting and underdog who isn't considered as top tier or elite (Kobayashi, Sainz, Albon, Merhi).

Most of my entries were about things that interested me on the day it might be reviewing a chapter from a book or about a subject I had learnt about from a YouTube video or the ending of a video game. I would also try and create recipes for me to try that week/month. Sometimes I would of course write about my own experiences or write about planning for the future but only when I felt like it. It was a very rewarding thing to do and I still enjoy reading back on it when I see it in my Google Drive (I wrote it on Google Docs).
P.S sometimes I would make quizzes or games that I could share with my friends. One of my favourites is stolen from The Horne Section Podcast where you get lyrics from a song and put most of the words through a thesaurus. My friends seemed to enjoy me badly singing stuff like "William Trousers is not my mate, they are a women who alleges I am the only"

I belive the charge is now 30p but I'm not sure as I haven't purchased one in a few years. I belive there has been something like a 95%+ drop in the use of single use plastic bags because of it.

I picked it up in a recent sale after a recommendation from a work colleague who overheard me bang on about the turn-based Final Fantasy games at any opportunity.
I'm about 10 hours in and have just left the Ancient World for the first time. I really enjoy the character of the world (very Dragon Ball like) and as always Square made a soundtrack that brings the world alive.
I enjoy the fights with the combo powers that two or I guess at some point three of your team can combine to create a more power full attack is a really interesting use of the fight mechanism and also give nice progression of your power increasing as well as shows the development of the characters friendship in another way than just the conversation they have on screen.
I'm really glad I picked it up.

It's been really fun to have some guidance and also seeing consequences of my poor decisions. I accidentally pulled one of my friends into a war he didnt know I was fighting and got one of his armies stack-wiped. Luckily he was kind enough to forgive me and give me East Frysia.
I've been trying to adsorb as much info from them as well as watching videos and reading guides. For now I am looking for a good guide that explains what each of the stat modifiers (think Merchantlism +10% or Absolutism -5%) means and how it affects everything else that is going on.

Me, my mother and sister where into the game like crazy when I was young so the the soundtrack was always playing the the background so it was like the theme tune to my house.
Ridge Racer Type 4: Another game from my childhood that still goes hard today. I love that the track switch from the most serene chilled Sunday drive music to music that raises the tension and make you feel like you're a lap away from being the biggest hero in the motorsport world.
Disco Elysium: One of the few game that I consider a piece of art first and then a video game. Everything about the world of Disco Elysium is perfect and the sound track enhances that vibe.
Shout out to Halo:CE when me and my mum would load up that game to play some sweet multiplayer I would always listen to that beautiful menu theme.

It has some classic Bob Mortimer mannerism wrapped up in a nicely paced crime story.
The story is pretty short so I managed to finish it over a weekend. I'm usually a very slow reader so I was pretty chuffed with that.

I usually work overtime on Saturday morning to get some pocket money to buy video games but this weekend there was a systems upgrade which meant no overtime so I made a point to go to the forest and have a bit of a hike and subsequently have a daydream. If you do get Baulders Gate what kind of character would you role?

Another one for me is the opening theme video to Ridge Racer Type 4. A great song to go with a great opening cut scene really draws you into the game.

I'm happiest when I'm trying to to figure out if I'm on the footpath or if I've wondered onto private land and am about to get a stern look from a land owner while I stare at Kamoot. You will always stumble across some English Heritage or National Trust site which always means your not too far away from an overly expensive sandwich and cake.

It is interesting what you where saying about tree not having bacteria and fungi to help break down forests must have been a maze of dead wood and plants walking along the forest floor proper must have been impossible to large creatures?
Do you have any further reading about this?

They are forest that exist due to the warm and wet weather that is brought in by the north alantic drift that allow these moss covered forests to exist. The UK until a few thousand years ago was covered in forest but have largly disappeared following the agricultral revolution and the use of land for grazing. Places like Dartmoor and Exmoor would be a wholly diffrent place if public grazing didn't stop woodlands from developing. The book does not advocate getting rid of farming communities by banning the grazing of land but instead argues that we should find a compromise by using public spaces more wisely and giving farmer insentives to help manage and protect new growth. It talks about how these woods can be used as carbon sinks and to help with water storage in local aquifers that will help the local communities stay protected in the coming years from drought and the overuse of the existing soil. The book does not present itself as a solve all solution but does argue that it can be part of the biggers solutions that the UK and the world will need to resolve in the coming decades.
The writing of the book is very nice with a good mix fof well researched and sourced studies as well as anecdotal observations and stories from the author and several people he meets while researching and writing the book.

The main campaign isn't very long but it has a nice way of implementing additional difficultly on replays by having different vehicles and teams that make steering more difficult but increases the speed and adding a nice drift mechanic especially for a game around that time.
For me the game has so much nostalgia I remember playing it on a tiny TV in the kitchen/dining room as we weren't allowed to have the PS1 in the living room.
The best part of the game is the soundtrack. They also produced a 20th anniversary remix that bangs.
One of the musicians of the game has a YouTube channel where they still produce music in the same style but I currently can't remember their YouTube name. If I find it I will add it.
Max reminded us all why he is levels ahead of any of his competitors yesterday. If rain helps level the performance of the car then Max made all the difference. Obviously luck of the safety car helped him but him and Ocon and Gasly had the bottle to make the strategy work and stay out in torrential rain on old inters that where running out of treads.
I think the safety car actually removed some of the drama from the race. Max had managed to keep his gap to the leaders at 10 seconds while getting through traffic I think there was a chance of him driving up to the back of the front runners and making some great moves.
