Sufjan is my absolute favorite artist. I encourage anyone who enjoys folk, electronic, rock, and experimental music to give him a try. The lyrics are soul piercing and vibrant, and his arrangements are complex and beautiful. I haven’t been the same since I listened to his album ‘The Age of Adz’.

I remember reading an interview where he described his inspiration for the album was a mysterious and painful illness that affected his nervous system. I wonder if his Guillain-Barré Syndrome is related in some way to that.

    I found the interview: https://pitchfork.com/features/interview/7921-sufjan-stevens/

How terribly sad if Grimes has not been able to be with her children. I’m not sure what I would do if I couldn’t see my own children.

“Tell Shivon to unblock me and tell Elon to let me see my son or plz respond to my lawyer,” Grimes wrote in a now-deleted post to Isaacson on X (formerly Twitter) last week. “I have never even been allowed to see a photo of these children until this moment, despite the situation utterly ripping my family apart.”

I love Somebody, Somewhere, because its shows the humanity of the characters so well. They are charming, and flawed and so relatable.

I just finished the Diablo 4 main campaign. The ending was kind of a let down, but I always felt that Diablo was more of a “enjoy the journey” game, rather than focusing on the destination. After trying each class, I settled on a necromancer. I had a blast demolishing hoards with my skeleton bros.

Now that D4 is out of the way, I’ve turned my attention to Final Fantasy 16. They made some bold decisions and its quite a departure from previous entries in the series. While I do not necessarily dislike it, at the same time it doesn’t really feel like a final fantasy game to me. It feels like Square Enix wanted to ride the Game of Thrones wave of dark fantasy, or something to that effect.

The visuals are amazing, and combat seems simple and satisfying hack and slash style. (At least that’s the way I’ve been playing. It doesn’t punish you for button mashing, and I haven’t figured out an optimized combat strategy. I’m most struck by the many cutscenes, and good grief, they are long! I wonder if there is more playtime, or cutscenes.

Once I let my expectations go I enjoyed it much more. When I stick to the core story I have a great time. When I get into my old BOTW ways of random exploration, I find myself getting bored.

I still have yet to beat it because I burned myself out exploring the underworld. I think once I return I’ll stick out the rest of the core story- I’ve heard good things about the game’s conclusion.

And she had noticed something even more bizarre: “People [who are vaccinated] have no scent any more. You can’t smell them. I’m not saying like, they don’t smell bad or they don’t smell – like I’m not talking about deodorant. I’m saying they don’t smell like there’s a human being in the room, and they don’t feel like there’s a human being in the room.”

Try out Schmigadoon! on Apple TV. The characters of the “real world” are stranded in a magical realm where people sing and dance. You may connect with one of the main characters, who hates musicals and thinks they are silly and finds the situation they are in to be ridiculous.

I like the show because its tongue and cheek, poking fun at typical musical tropes that require suspension of disbelief. It also is an excellent stylistic review of the early classic musicals like The Music Man, Oklahoma, and Carousel.

As an aside, not everything needs to be logical to be enjoyable. Sometimes its ok for things to just be a spectacle, whether they are weird and strange, or fantastical, or obnoxious and whimsical. A lot of entertainment is about escaping the harsh realities and logic of the real world.

Also, if musicals are not your taste, that’s fine too. They’re not for everyone.

Your comment resonates with me. I love a good pumpkin spice latte. I don’t love pumpkin spiced oreos, pumpkin spice beer, or pumpkin spice air fresheners. Not everything tastes great when combined with the spices you put in a pumpkin pie.

The saturation of the market with poorly executed “fall flavors” reeks of capitalism leaching every bit of profitability from a popular trend. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

To be honest I don’t follow the logic of “people hate this thing > women and teen girls love this thing > the people who hate the thing hate it because they hate women”

Thankfully I have access to a lap pool for cardio, and I’m able to walk, and do upper body strengthening.

A word of warning- I also didn’t have any pain before it snapped. I felt like I was in the best shape of my life!

More work in less time? Sounds miserable to me!

I’m curious of any UK citizens can further describe some of the protections mentioned here like ‘dignity to work’.
