How terribly sad if Grimes has not been able to be with her children. I’m not sure what I would do if I couldn’t see my own children.

“Tell Shivon to unblock me and tell Elon to let me see my son or plz respond to my lawyer,” Grimes wrote in a now-deleted post to Isaacson on X (formerly Twitter) last week. “I have never even been allowed to see a photo of these children until this moment, despite the situation utterly ripping my family apart.”

Reminder that Elon is a fraud with a fake STEM degree who bought or stole all of his big ideas from others.

Snopes says his degree is legit, not that it should matter given his achievements. You can be an asshole who gets triggered easily and still be intellectually smart

I read this article [1] and my first thought is that people in modern times are just the worst.

Then I started thinking about how even though things like the Internet and a global economy have probably made it more visible, its more likely that people are the same as ever and we probably just don't get the full sense of the lived experience from a historical narrative.

Now I'm kind of fixated on the idea of writing a book about ancient Egypt where everyone was very excited about the new temple to Lion god, but then the pharaoh's brother took over the project, fired the priests, massacred half the builders and put the other half to work making the lion's head into his face. Then he starts selling fake grain made out of rocks and convinces people that buying it will make them wealthy and powerful in the afterlife.

[1] I wish I hadn't read it, I already knew he is a narcissistic asshole, and I didn't need any more of his antics living rent free in my head.

I want to clarify something about harems. While there's a sexual element to them, Westerners have completely perverted the entire concept ever since the word has invented.

The harem is literally just the women's quarters, where the women lived. That's the wives and concubines, but also the sisters, daughters, nieces, mother, servants. In the Ottoman harem, for example, once a concubine bore a son, she and the sultan would be expect to not have sex again. The mothers job was now training her son for government.

Powerful men still raped, abducted and stole. But the harem was not usually the format for that.

Harems existed to reflect the practice of solidifying political alliances. This could be used for expansion, but also more charitably to stabilise the realm and prevent a civil war that would kill millions. Musk literally just wanted to have sex with multiple women.

I'm not disagreeing with your larger point about how powerful were awful to women then and are awful to women now. But there's a lot of baggage attached to the word "harem", and I wanted to pause it there and clarify that.

This is a comment that really encapsulates it all for me. This is an actual human being being treated as their parents' dog or toy, in my opinion.

I live in an country where the letters æ/Æ, ø/Ø, and å/Å are in use as well. So the names some of them have will actually mean something to people around the world, and at least one of them is downright derogatory.

Online gamertags and usernames using random letters with extra accents and the likes, fine.

But for an actual, everyday, rest of your life name for a real human being?

          Sidereal.

Edit: While it does have an established, little known (by most people) meaning in English, even that sounds very different to how most people would pronounce it, which I believe would be side real.
Link to Cambridge Dictionary with human read examples of pronunciation in British and American English

          US: /saɪˈdɪr.i.əl/

In the Scandinavian languages this reads as side-ræl, as we spell æ as ae when using internationally friendly lettering.

Despite it not being "a real, much used word" in itself, the way some germanic languages compound words to convey meaning, this still becomes a very understandable word/term.

And it means something like side trash or side junk. That, to us, reads much like having a trashy sidepiece of an intimate partner. Potentially it being the trashy sidepiece even.

In his new biography written by Walter Isaacson, Elon Musk revealed that he and Grimes have had a third child. Named Techno Mechanicus, or Tau for short, their new child’s existence was kept private until now.

Musk and Grimes similarly waited months to announce their second child, Exa Dark Sideræl Musk, in 2022. Their first child, X Æ A-12, or X, was born in 2020.

Musk has 10 children with three women, one of whom is Shivon Zilis, an executive at Neuralink who reports directly to him.

Zilis had twins in 2021 after Musk offered to be her sperm donor so that “the kids would be genetically his,” writes author Isaacson. “He really wants smart people to have kids,” Zilis explained in the biography.

This took place While Grimes was expecting their second child. Musk reportedly did not inform her that he had twins with one of his employees.

I always think these weird names show an intent to make your child an appendix of yourself. An ode to the parent's egos, instead of the beginnings of a new, independent life.
