Originally I spent 4 years working helpdesk for a university. Spent 5 years post college doing IT stuff for K12 schools. From there I went to be a sysadmin for a software company, changed my career a few years back and learned to code a little bit and I am now a site reliability engineer (SRE) which is kind of like sysadmin with some programming/"engineering" mindset involved.

Day to day basis is not routine. I am looking at complex systems, making improvements to help ensure that the systems are robust and reliable (from how they are built, to how they are hosted, to how they perform), I am helping when things break (incident command), I am developing new ways for us to catalog our myriad software (microservices & software catalog), I am helping set standards for how new software is made (golden paths), and developing monitoring capabilities to observe all dimensions of systems (observability).

I sort of fell into my current role, if it wasn't for a number of lucky circumstances I have no clue what I'd be doing today, but I've always been curious about technology, so I love learning new things.

I'd definately go with Porter Robinson's side project Virtual Self, pretty big departure at the time coming off of his album Worlds, and very far from his recent album Nurture. I find myself coming back to it a lot.

There's a lot of belief that a new EP will drop sometime soon as there has been new music and a B2B set with G Jones at Second Sky music festival.

(also a new Ekowraith feat Wavedash track??)

I tried one of those Amazon grab and go things at LaGuardia this year and it was amazing. You literally just card in, grab stuff off the shelves and put it in a bag and leave (you can get an email receipt if you use a kiosk in the store). It just worked and I wish more places had that tech, feels like it solves both the shrink and inconvenience problem of self checkout...

I also tried Amazon's palm reading tech at Whole Foods and it felt like a total gimmick when it takes nearly just as long to do apple pay (and doesnt accept all cards yet).

The state I live in (currently, planning on moving next year) will kick of endless studies and programs to analyze the brain drain and when you look at the composition of these bodies and panels they never actually include anyone who I'd consider to be in my cohort, its always a bunch of old people confused why people my age would ever consider leaving this wonderful land of opportunity (only if you are old, white, and wealthy) what could we possibly want?

As someone that lives in a building with multiple Airbnb units it drives me crazy, these people are shredding our community apart and flipping units where familes used to live into temporary housing for people who dont give a damn about this building and the people who actually live here. I used to have neighbors, now there's no one.

After my Hyundai was stolen this summer I didn't even wait for it to get repaired (mechanic said it would be at least a month for parts), sold it immediately and bought a Mazda. Good excuse to get away from that brand as fast as humanly possible. To be fair, I had no real problems with the car, really reliable and was an okay drive. Unfortunately the company has thoroughly burned away any reputation they had over the last two years.
