I agree, though I'm looking at setting up the app on LibreELEC for doing remote play togethers. If you're using Windows for your host, give Parsec a try. They have a web client.

I never had good luck with Parsec or moonlight , least not with my Xbox.

Very smart move if that's the case - get most of your beta testing out of the way before even announcing the product

When playing Steam VR games using Air Link, you have both the Oculus PCVR overlay and the Steam VR overlay available on different controller menu buttons, and people commonly report the performance isn't as good as playing Oculus PCVR games with Air Link. Using Steam Link should cut out the redundant UIs and help performance when playing non-Oculus PCVR games.

Exciting! My wife and I just bought a Quest 2 around Black Friday because Amazon had a nice deal; haven't actually used it yet, since it's a Christmas gift to ourselves, but I haven't wanted to be tied to the Facebook ecosystem, so I've been thinking of just keeping most of my purchases to Steam.

I did end up buying a 20' cable for the PC, but we'll see how this works.

I had great luck with the Steam Link hardware (when wired), even for fairly twitchy FPS games. I stopped making use of it once I got the Steak Deck and dock, but I would think that most capable smart TVs would be able to do it as well. It could be that the Tizen app isn't good, or maybe I have overestimated the hardware performance in these TVs.

I’m thinking about picking up a Quest 2 because I’d like to try Beat Saber. My concern is that a lot of the official music packs don’t really interest me. I know you can side load songs and I’ve found a couple sites and looked through them, but I’m still a bit confused because most songs seem like originals (maybe?) or just stuff I’ve never heard of. And even then, a lot of them are tagged as Expert. My modern music tastes are pretty esoteric, but I’d be down with classic rock and 90s grunge, punk, pop. Further, when side loading, do you just download the mapping and provide the music file yourself? I’m trying to figure this all out before I go for it. I know it would be fun playing the official packs like Queen, but I’d really like stuff like Stone Temple Pilots or Rush.

The maps are built for specific songs. There are programs that can autogenerate a map for a given song, though they're a bit uninspired usually.

Do you still need to get the maps from somewhere or does BMBF have some sort of “store” within it that makes it easy to install custom maps?

It's been a while (years, actually) since I've sideloaded maps on a Quest, so it might have changed in the interim, but after setting up BMBF, you would pull up those sites in a browser (in the headset) and add songs.

Unfortunately it doesn't look like it's working with Linux out of the gate, at least not with Chimera on my box.
