I agree, though I'm looking at setting up the app on LibreELEC for doing remote play togethers. If you're using Windows for your host, give Parsec a try. They have a web client.

If the rumors of the "Index 2" being a wireless headset and direct competitor to the Quest are true, this would definitely look like a prelude and tech test to prepare for that release. Very smart...

Very smart move if that's the case - get most of your beta testing out of the way before even announcing the product

When playing Steam VR games using Air Link, you have both the Oculus PCVR overlay and the Steam VR overlay available on different controller menu buttons, and people commonly report the performance isn't as good as playing Oculus PCVR games with Air Link. Using Steam Link should cut out the redundant UIs and help performance when playing non-Oculus PCVR games.

Exciting! My wife and I just bought a Quest 2 around Black Friday because Amazon had a nice deal; haven't actually used it yet, since it's a Christmas gift to ourselves, but I haven't wanted to be tied to the Facebook ecosystem, so I've been thinking of just keeping most of my purchases to Steam.
I did end up buying a 20' cable for the PC, but we'll see how this works.
Have folks had success with steam link? I've only used the Tizen app, so maybe it's just that one that's garbage like every other Tizen app, but even with the TV and PC hard wired to the router,...

I had great luck with the Steam Link hardware (when wired), even for fairly twitchy FPS games. I stopped making use of it once I got the Steak Deck and dock, but I would think that most capable smart TVs would be able to do it as well. It could be that the Tizen app isn't good, or maybe I have overestimated the hardware performance in these TVs.

It's been a while (years, actually) since I've sideloaded maps on a Quest, so it might have changed in the interim, but after setting up BMBF, you would pull up those sites in a browser (in the headset) and add songs.

I never had good luck with Parsec or moonlight , least not with my Xbox.

How is this different than the Oculus app's Air Link?

Incredibly cool

The maps are built for specific songs.
There are programs that can autogenerate a map for a given song, though they're a bit uninspired usually.

Unfortunately it doesn't look like it's working with Linux out of the gate, at least not with Chimera on my box.
