Morels are rare where I live and chanterelles not so rare, but only sprout up around summer, so not so pleasant to forage when it's hot and humid outside.

One of the ways to help identify a mushroom species is by its spore print (leave the cap on a piece of paper or aluminum foil overnight and see what color you get after the spores have dropped) Spore Prince is just a play on words of that. :)

Spore_Prince This is a great video I recommend that dives into this topic more. A couple of interesting things:
The Coprinopsis genus name literally means living on dung which, of course, there are quiet a few of those species in that gallery. Some mushrooms that grow on dung range from the infamous magic mushrooms (Psilocybe cubensis) to commercially sold white mushrooms from the grocery store (Agaricus bisporus). There are even some species that are edible but alcohol should be avoided before and after consuming those .Anyway, sorry for the ramble. I'll end this by saying mushrooms are neat!

Spore_Prince I follow a similar recipe as well, but I sometimes like to add about a Tbsp of mustard powder. It adds a bit of spiciness and tanginess.I follow a similar recipe as well, but I sometimes like to add about a Tbsp of mustard powder. It adds a bit of spiciness and tanginess.
Giant Puffballs are another one I've had luck with finding a few times now and I find them delicious! As long as they're still all white in the inside, they taste great. I've fried them in some butter and eaten them like a steak.
I've managed to finf them growing in the same spot after a heavy rain in mid to late September.
