I was excited about this game pre launch and was put off by it when it finally did launch and everything was a mess of bugs.
That being said, the game is stable enough now that I can enjoy it and it certainly is a well fleshed out game. The brain dance investigations are one of my favourite parts, although it does kind of hold your hand through them.
The level of dedication to dialog and story building can be a little much at times (has anyone read every collected shard). It does create a nice overall atmosphere.
I'm about 28 hours into the game and have come across two bugs. One causes a game breaking audio glitch, so I'm ignoring that particular event for now. The other was causing an elevator to stop working.
There are so many storylines/quests to follow that it does become slightly daunting. Doesn't help that mission prompts will pop up in the middle of other missions. Just random phone calls for help. I guess it does add a level of realism that someone could call out of the blue.
Only change I would like to see is how vehicles handle. Most cars travel like they're hauling a trailer which deters me from using them in favour of using fast travel. It's a shame because I do enjoy the sights of night city.

Also, I find watching some YouTube beginner's guides for whatever game your friends are playing would help give insight whether or not you might like it. Or how much time you would need to invest for it to become enjoyable.
In the end, if you don't think you'll have fun then don't play. Maybe offer some alternatives as well.

Also 20 years ago one of the best space games I've ever played came out. Freelancer put you in the pilots seat and allowed you to buy different ships for different playstyles. Want to be a fighter pilot? Load your ship with as much firepower as you can. There were also mods that let you use the giant cargo ships if you wanted to earn money trading. Other mods added x-wings and other ships to the mix.

Had to play wrath of god to kill all creatures and a couple others I can't remember the names of to rid the board of land and enchantments.
I also had a goblin based deck including a goblin king.
Few hundred cards and that was only a few editions in. Lost them all some time ago.

Having every group available for logged out users gave me a better idea of what the site was about and what the people were interested in prior to requesting to join. Tildes is it's own entity and the charm of the community discussion is what brought me here.
The broad groupings can be a double edged sword. On one hand, a group can be overrun by the popular discussions within them leaving little room for the niche subjects. On the other hand, broad groups allow for a larger range of topics within them and open people up to new experiences.
Likewise smaller groups could become stagnant due to lack of interest.
With an increase of people looking for alternatives the platform will eventually grow and changes are inevitable. Do they have to be drastic? No. Start small and see what works. Maybe the current format is the best.
@Deimos is doing the community right by asking for input.

Uline is expensive for almost everything they carry. They lure people in with offering freebies and I have to remind people where I work that if they took the time to get it properly priced out then they could save money on whatever consumable they are getting and buy that "free" item elsewhere and still pay less in the long run.
