Something on the order of centuries instead of decades. It might not be practical for most people, but surely Disney and these record companies could afford to fund and use something like that. Of course it isn't as simple as a durable medium, you have to make sure you have a way to still read the thing in that time frame as well.

Comment on Tesla confirms wireless inductive electric car home charger is coming in ~transport
corbs My understanding was it was more like 60% waste, and that's with the antennas being placed directly on top of each other with barely a few millimeters of plastic between them.My understanding was it was more like 60% waste, and that's with the antennas being placed directly on top of each other with barely a few millimeters of plastic between them.

And that's if the induction antennas are directly against each other, which I doubt will be the case here. Maybe they could squeeze a little more out with a phased array setup (and come to think of it, this is likely as this is exactly the kind of tech used in the Starlink dishes), but I have no doubt that your electric bill will see a significant increase of you choose to go with this setup.

How is Scorsese so out of touch as to say that thing about people watching TV for multiple hours? Of course they can. They can pause the program anytime they want, take a piss, grab a drink, whatever. Why would I go out of my way to get a babysitter and go spend effectively 4 hours glued to my seat lest I miss something when the filmmaker and production company have so little respect for their audience? The audacity of these people.

Trying to find a solution, I found something I'd like to share (at the risk of it getting shutdown, I suppose). I found that subscribing to a channel's RSS feed through the Feedbro plugin for Firefox gives me access to a channels latest videos, and watching them through the Feedbro feed/page avoids the dreaded pop-ups. This works for now, not sure how long until it is patched. LMK if this works for anyone else!

Seems disturbing in a modern context, but I haven't done enough research to claim any intentions (to put it politely) on the part of the practitioners or developers.

I finally feel like, in the last week or so, I've figured out how to make a nearly perfectly clean prints with my printer (Anycubic Kobra Go). It's been very satisfying having to do minimal processing on my recent parts.
And as a bonus, I finally got my camera setup and streaming so I can monitor my prints while I'm away. I really love this hobby!

I love how different musicians use similar or even identical chord progressions/beats/etc to very different effect. I discovered a while back that The Joker (Steve Miller Band), Don't Come Around Here No More (Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers) and Undone - The Sweater Song (Weezer) all have identical chord progressions, to the point you can interchangeably sing each over the other. I'd love to do a mash up one day.

While listening to the album this morning, I had a thought. You Only Live Once is a perfect transition from The Strokes previous two albums (Room On Fire, Is This It), to the evolved, more mature sound on display in this album. It bridges the albums so perfectly. What do you all think? What are your favorite album openers?
Also, I'm new to tildes, a reddit refugee (redfugee?). Really glad to be joining the community!

Just to add, in regards to a true taxi service, they would have known better than to try and kick a service animal out of their vehicle, but since Uber and the like have all but run those companies out of most cities, they have an even greater obligation to be ADA compliant. Seems like something the driver should have been aware of before offering his 60,000 dollar car up for transportation services. These "gig" economy companies need to be taken to task for these kinds of abuses. Good on them for standing their ground, but damn is the rest disappointing.
