Avoid Samsung for sure. Had one hard die on me, the other has the in fridge icemaker. It is now just an ice cube itself and non-functional. Terrible design. But hey, they look nice.

Great work. Love the dedication. Man its been far too long since I read those books... Reminds me why I love them though.

I try to get them to cook dinner with us. One night a week we either all cook dinner together or I have the kids plan and make the meal. Bonus for them, if they do all the cooking they don't have to clean up after dinner.

It helps teach them an important skill and gets us all in the room together for conversation.

We've sporadically had conversations about "being adults" ... this is something I wish I kept up more. But it was actually really good. They've asked about things like how taxes and insurance works and, because they came up with the topics, were super interested in them.

I'm sure there are good prompt decks out there for that kind of thing as well...

Movie night really has been the most successful one of all though. We pick a series and go through the next one each movie night.

I just recently replaced my completely overly expensive Nighthawk Wifi6 router. All of the Ethernet ports started failing after a lightning storm. Not wanting to dump an exorbitant amount of money into another router, I discovered the Mikrotik hAP ax³.

I can't say the coverage is quite as amazing as my previous router, but this thing works wonderfully well. Its easy to set up to get you on the internet. After that, its got every knob and dial you could possibly want to configure it to your heart's content.

It is certainly not for the faint of heart. If you want something super easy to configure, you may want to look elsewhere, but if you aren't scared to dig in, the price + performance + capabilities can't be beat. I haven't begun to scratch the surface on what this thing can do, but I'm super happy with it thus far.

I could easily see me replacing other equipment with Mikrotik gear over time for a consistently configured environment.

Kagi has removed that completely, it works great, the features are amazing, and its totally worth $5/mo to me in saved time.

I'm going to a supper club this Saturday and the theme is pie. Now, I love making me some pie (and subsequently eating it), but I'd like to do something a little different from my normal pie.

What is your favorite (ideally esoteric) pie recipe? I'm making one sweet, one savory. Gimme your best shot!
