    This trailer was definitely a let down for me. I also loved Legacy, but I dunno, bringing the programs into the real world…. I’m just not feeling it. I suppose it was the only place left to go for the series. But this just looks dumb as hell. I guess NIN is a good choice to replace Daft Punk, Reznor’s definitely been crushing it on scores lately, but I’m not sure that’s gonna be enough for me with how lame the rest of the movie looks. There’s more to Tron than just light cycles (but they fly now! They fly now? They fly now.)

    The main draw of the Playdate for me is the portability and having a device that can replace my phone.

    I knew it was small but I was honestly surprised at just how small it is. I can carry it in my day pouch alongside my wallet and hand lotion and chapstick and headphones. It’s teeny-tiny, so unlike my Switch which rarely leaves the house, I take my Playdate with me everywhere. It’s great for breaks at work, waiting at the bank, basically anywhere I would normally reach for my phone I can reach for my Playdate instead, which has been a big mental health boon for me. And because it emits no light, I can use it before bed without flooding my eyes with blue light, so my sleep hygiene has also improved (I use a book light to play in lowlight conditions, but the screen is so reflective that you’ll be surprised how easy it is to see even in low-light).

    Overall the experience has been well worth the $200, and because new games are so cheap I always have something new to play.

    This movie was fantastic. Expertly animated and hilariously funny, I highly recommend anyone with an interest in animation or an affinity for these characters go out and see it on a big screen while you can. I grew up with these characters on tv but their natural habitat has always been the silver screen, and it was special for me to finally see them up where they belong. Amazingly, this is the first feature length fully animated, fully original Looney Tunes film (previous features were either live-action hybrids or collections of shorts with thin connective tissue added), so it’s also a historic opportunity.

    When I saw the film it was me and my partner (late 30s), a couple in their 20s with a kid maybe 6 years old, and an old woman in her 70s, so basically every generation represented, and all of us were laughing and having a great time. I’ll admit the middle of the film is a little soggy, but the gags and the quality of the animation (it’ll be a crime if this isn’t nominated for Best Animated this year) make this fully worth your time. I’m probably going to see it again this week.

    If you’re on the fence, check out Looney Tunes Cartoons on Max, these updated shorts from 2018 capture the feel of the classic cartoons and are produced by the same team who made this film (plus you can get your Bugs or Tweety fix as well).

    He’s already consolidated power, and many of the things you list as distractions are an extension of that very plan. I feel like democrats in congress should be doing more to stymie his progress, but I don’t see the point in criticizing how dancers at the JFK center have chosen to protest. Democratic voters have few option with the GOP in full control of government. We can protest, and we can organize for the midterms, and we can call our sympathetic representatives and encourage them to stop dragging ass in Congress and start making a scene, and I feel like that is about it. So why are you gripping that a group of people have chosen to protest when the other option is to roll over and wait for midterms to save us, if they can. Bannon is talking about the media so I’m not sure why you are focused on the protestors. You should be directing your ire against the media and those in Congress that you can influence, and you should definitely be out there joining protests so that the media will report on them. Unless you have a better plan for pushing back against this consolidation of power, in which case, and I mean this earnestly, I’d love to hear it.

    Ah, I misunderstood. Without seeing the poll questions I can only speculate but my read is that “supporting the economy” is an active choice while “opting out” is a passive choice. If that’s the case I’m not surprised that the more passive wording pulled a slightly larger number. Choosing to “opt out” might just mean reducing spending to essential purchases only, while choosing not to “support” the economy might imply a more active stance of boycotting? Again, without seeing the wording of the survey it’s hard to say for certain

    There is a fifth box (the first four being soap, ballot, jury, and ammo) that often gets left out, perhaps because it’s not exactly a box and so doesn’t fit cleanly into the idiom, despite being perhaps the most influential box of them all: the wallet. Soap boxing failed, ballot boxing failed, jury boxing is slow and ongoing, and we all hope we never reach the ammo box, but luckily, wallet fits snuggly in the middle, and can be very effective.

    You might be interested to know that America has adopted some of your old pennies. I handle cash in my line of work and every now and then a Canadian penny is mixed in among the American ones. I will often just hand it out in change, and no one has ever handed one back and said “hey this penny’s no good here or anywhere, it’s got a leaf on it!” They just take it and go and probably spend it or lose it or put it in their own jar, to eventually be rejected by a coinstar machine.

    Ranked choice should have been an easy win in my blue state, but sadly it did not pass. there are groups out there spending a lot of money to stop this from happening, and some red state legislatures are preemptively banning it. I truly believe that this is the one of our best options to improve our democracy, but we’ve got a big uphill battle now that the donor class has caught on to how RCV can erode their grip on power.
