Oh, definitely not. To enjoy or hate it accurately? Probably. I hate plenty of stuff I don't understand. Sometimes I hate it because I don't understand it. And there are even a few things I enjoy...

do you need to understand a work to enjoy (or hate) something?

One thing I saw some people worried about before the movie is that the Barbieland map of the "real world" contains what some people thought was the nine-dash-line extending from China. Does anybody know anything about the Chinese reaction to this apparent inclusion? Does China think it's the nine-dash-line?

On the contrary, you can't understand a work without considering it's real-world context. Barbie in particular is in direct conversation with its own real-world context and corporate ownership.

Clank and Arctic Scavengers are standouts to me. They're both solid deck-builders with other game mechanics built in to make the game a little more than just deck-building.

Squabbles is the most immediately obviously similar to Reddit. Some [eople levy a criticism at it that they do at Tildes too, it's run by a singular dev.

Yes, this is an excellent encapsulation of something I feel like we've all been noticing. Doctorow summarized it, why it happens, and gave it a name. There's power in that.
