More enjoyable in some parts than others, but I felt like it could've shaved off at least a third of the length and not actually lost anything. I do enjoy the world building and the characters, though. Also the narrator for the audiobooks is amazing.
With that done, I just started Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir, which had been on my list for a while. Only about half an hour into that audiobook, but enjoying it so far and the narrator is making it even better.
I don't make enough time to sit down and read a physical book as I should, but one of these days I'll get back to reading Crooked Kingdom because I do really enjoy Leigh Bardugo and the Grishaverse world.

And in terms of totally unnecessary spending, morning coffee — I run out to Dunkin for an iced coffee every morning, rain or shine, and it's not even amazing coffee, it's just become part of my morning ritual that helps me get my head on straight for the day (also the people at the store I go to genuinely brighten my morning to see them and say hello).
Totally not worth it: cars are the main thing that come to mind. I have a 14 year old Civic with peeling paint that still runs fine, and I plan to keep it until I've run it into the ground, especially given the price of even used cars these days.

Objectively, nothing is actually going wrong in my life, but I've struggled for a long time on and off with depression/anxiety and feeling like there's a point to anything. Lately I've been feeling easily overwhelmed by stuff/life in general, and like I've been running on fumes. It's been hard to stay on top of things because everything feels like an insurmountable chore, but I finally did the dishes that were piling up in my sink for two weeks, so... yay? I was also diagnosed with ASD a couple years ago, and I'm sure that also plays into the difficulties I'm having.
The big thing on my mind tends to be work. I'm so tired of software dev, and I don't feel like I'm keeping up anymore at my current job. But I don't want to manage or be a team lead, and I don't feel like I have relevant skills outside of tech. I'm considering going back to QA/SDET for my next job. It's hard to know when the right time is to move on from my current job, though (or even how to) — ideally I'd take some time off before interviewing again. Too many hard decisions, and it feels paralyzing. I have no ambition and I just want to coast, but no one wants to hire someone like that, so I guess I'm just doomed to keep running myself into the ground forever!

Like your family, my mom and her siblings weren't taught Italian — I don't even know how much my grandparents could speak it, although I think they could understand a lot. I've started learning a little on my own, but need to actually set more time aside for it. Learning enough Italian to hold an actual conversation, and getting my Italian citizenship (since my great grandfather was still an Italian citizen when my grandfather was born in the US) are two of my eventual goals.

I was on Wellbutrin for a couple months a year or two ago, and I know it works well for some people, but unfortunately very much not for me. I developed an unbearable (to me) level of tinnitus, plus jaw pain from clenching and a racing resting heart rate. Fortunately the side effects stopped after the Wellbutrin got out of my system, including the tinnitus. I can't imagine having to deal with that permanently; I feel for anyone who does.

I played The Witness with my partner (we'd swap off who had the controller and who was copiloting and just helping figure stuff out), and that last challenge broke me. We eventually turned off the music, which helped a ton because I was getting so stressed out (funnily it didn't seem to bother my partner at all), but it was kinda too late. We got so close a handful of times, but eventually stopped trying and never came back to it. I think my partner's still kinda bummed that we never finished it, ha... He's the kind of gamer who always finishes and gets 100% achievements for most things he plays, and truly enjoys challenges, whereas I rarely actually finish games and I'm totally fine with putting them down when they're no longer fun or get too frustrating.

If I were trying to build on a budget, I would have gone with a cheaper option, since there are definitely cheaper decent cards out there. And if I had a more recent card, I probably wouldn't bother upgrading at all yet. But I paid $430 for a 770 back in 2013, and $520 for a 1080 when that was relatively new, so $599 for a 4070 didn't feel that much more painful to me.

Keeping up with gear upgrades in most MMOs (I do play Guild Wars 2 and like that it's more about horizontal progression), grinding to complete dailies or collections or achievements, feeling like I need to min/max to keep up... I already have a full time job and house chores, I don't need the things I do for fun to give me chores, too. I'm more interested in the story than anything else: a game either needs to have a compelling story, and/or be casual and relaxing enough for me to pick up and put down whenever I feel like it (possibly with months in between, because I burn out on particular games sometimes and need to take a break).
Thank you for this! I'd been looking for a (non-subscription) journaling app to try out.
