I've been listening to a lot of 'Sly and the Family Stone' lately, going through the albums and finding some gems.

I'm super into the works of David foster wallace if anyone has any recommendations on any other author that you may think similar to him. Also I have a book by James clive called cultural amnesia. Basically a bunch of essays on artists he found important. I really like that format, and would like any recommendations on that sort of nonfiction.

I have been playing the solo variant of the board game carcassonne! Hans im Gluck released it for free on their website, and it is a lot of fun to play solo. I have been playing a couple rounds a day, and have been getting mixed scores, 36 being my highest, which was actually the first game I played of it. I'm usually pretty bad with remembering rules for board games, but this one is actually sticking pretty well, probably because I have played a lot of carcassonne, so it has been making me feel pretty good about myself lol. I recommend it to anyone that has the board game!

I think one thing that keeps me going is that this is an incredibly special event that life even exists and has gotten to where we are. I think sometimes I forget about how lucky we are and how cool it is to see the whole scale of what humanity is and all the cool advances in science that we get to see daily. I've always thought that this is one of the coolest timelines to be alive. I have to remind myself of that from time to time when I get caught in the daily grind of life.

I'm currently reading "Consider the Lobster," by David foster wallace, and am loving it so far. His essays are so well written and I love the footnotes. It's unlike anything else I've read. Every year to start the year I read a Wallace book, hoping to finish Infinite Jest after I read all his other stuff. I love dfw.

I am planning on reading the book of essays "Consider the lobster" over the new years actually. I haven't read "Infinite Jest" but have read "A Supposedly Fun Thing I'll Never Do Again," and "The Broom of the System," and am a good DFW fan for life.

That's fair. Maybe I just think the idea is cool, more than it is actually going to be.
