Tildes Minecraft Survival Bi-Weekly Thread

The server operates on a soft whitelist. Anyone can log in and walk around, but you need a Tildes account to gain build access.
The TildeTown courthouse is coming along nicely, thanks to everyone who has donated materials! For those of you that use Litematica, here is a link to the schematic in case you'd like to help build (or just see the grand plan 🙂)
I haven't used litematica before, but I plan to learn how before an upcoming project. I might use this opportunity to get some practice.
Yeah there is a bit of a learning curve, but it's more about traversing the various menus IMO. One thing I would recommend is to take some time to browse the menus and learn what they all do. There are some handy visual toggles, and layer rendering modes that can be very nice for focusing on individual parts of the build. Also, the minecraft "pick block" feature (middle mouse click by default) works on the ghost blocks in the schematics, which is a huge timesaver.
Oh hey, also I wanted to point out this video, which helped me a lot in learning Litematica a few months ago.

I find it very funny that you are working so hard to build the courthouse where your murder trial will take place.

It has been a small age since I played Minecraft (lack of a gaming PC hobbled me) but I have recently acquired a happy little N100 miniPC that I'd love to exercise -- does anyone have a link to a good "here's the current bees knees launcher and Mods recommended" for joining something like the Tildes survival server?
The cool kids are using Prism Launcher.
You can install mods and mod loaders through the launcher. The standard mod loader these days is Fabric. Then you might want:
And in case anyone is wondering why Prism is technologically superior to other launchers, there’s a cat button on the main window’s top toolbar that toggles the background to a picture of a cat playing with yarn.
You can also select between multiple kitties depending on your aesthetic preferences.
The cat button was carried over from MultiMC, which Prism is a fork of.

I use GDLauncher. I like it because it manages java versions for you mainly, but it's also got a pretty nice UI.
Here's a previous post where I list the mods I use. I think I've since added a couple like Inventory Profiles Next and Tweakaroo.

Personally, I just use the default minecraft launcher. I've tried a handful of launchers in the past but never found enough value in them because I don't mind managing my own mods manually. Fabric can place an installation there and load mods and such as usual.
I am not doing Minecraft these days, but it was neat to see what's being built using @Mendanbar's link.
But now I want to know the story behind this statue that appears to be receiving an appendectomy from a UFO?
The story was that Posi and fam were making a huge statue to squish their base. While building, everybody was commenting that the original butt was too small, so it was rebuilt thicc.
I wanted to build a UFO for the nether roof portal which was right next to the statue. Considering the butt critique, I thought it would be funny to have the UFO shooting the statue's butt. Posi gave me permission so I did it. After, we spent a good half hour looking at it and laughing.
Then we got the mob head and armor statue datapacks and the ufo/statue fight was started.

Also, my kid didn't like that my statue was getting shot, so kiddo added a "healing potion." In actuality it was some slime blocks.
Talon and I had a conversation about it and decided to replace the "potion" with some clever armor stands folks, including one throwing a healing potion and others shooting a cannon and bows.
At this point, within the UFO (tricky to get to) there are something like 3 to 5 armor stands with guardian heads and iron armor. They're controlling the the laser cannon (the source of the beam).
Conversely, the statue is inhabited by a growing population (20-ish?) of snowman-headed armor stands wearing purple leather armor. It's an ongoing project which regularly occupies the family.
Finally, I continue to change or tweak the statue's proportions. For example, I think the sword is too short right now (input welcome!) and the hands / arms look a little wonky. And yes, the butt was rebuilt many times to get adequate junk in the trunk.

I don't think there's much backstory, just your classic Giant Statue vs UFO situation. I can tell you the statue is piloted by a crew of pirates and they have returned cannonfire at the UFO so the score in the fight is 1-1 currently.
It is sort of a shame that you can't see the scoreboard from the online map. There's a lot of fun detail in that collab.
UFO just needs to up its game and blow a big enough hole in the giant's chest so that its buddies in space can read the score
The existing Warden farm was not suitable for farming their heads (@GravySleeve and I died several times trying to farm them), so there's now a new Warden "farm" at Dark Peaks station.
However, it's only a farm in the sense that it will spawn Wardens and guide them to a spot where you can shoot them safely. It takes about 30 spectral arrows with a full power bow to kill one. I've got a chest there full of spectral arrows, since the glow it places around the target makes it much easier to hit the Wardens through the pulsing darkness.

@teaearlgraycold and I were discussing armor stand decorations earlier today, and it reminded me of the video that convinced me that anything is possible using the armor stand book. I thought I'd share it here so it may continue to inspire:

So...I'm not quite sure what happened
But I logged on and then lagged out, and when I logged back on apparently I registered as having suffocated in a wall. When I ran back to where I died, both to where my minimap said I died and where I saw that I was when I lagged out, I couldn't find any of my (full netherite) gear....
Worth noting it was maybe a minute or two between when I lagged out and when I got back to where my stuff should've been and I wasn't able to see anything on my minimap, and I know it shows items.
@teaearlgraycold, Is there any way to just poof my stuff back into existence?

Haha, love it. There shouldn't be a hole there, but I haven't been on to check in a few days. Been playing the latest expedition in No Man's Sky :)

is there a certain minecraft you have to have downloaded to be able to play on this server? I think I have bedrock on my playstation.. newb question sorry.. I would like to join in on the fun though!
You can connect - but it's not straightforward as the Playstation version doesn't allow for custom servers.
This guide should walk you through the process of running a proxy server on a phone/PC that will appear as a LAN session you can join.
But if you can buy it the Java edition for PC/Mac/Linux will be less buggy. The server is running Java edition. I've set up support for Bedrock but it's not perfect.
And Java is only like $20 US or something. Totally worth not having to bridge versions and the issues that causes
