He finally receives a response and a small amount of money. Instead of stopping writing letters, he starts writing twice as often. He eventually gets enough money for a major expansion of the library's collection.

That's fair and I agree. If they had linked the youtube channel then it would have seemed more like promotion, rather than the the point of the article: people are struggling.
