So apparently I am supposed to post weekly screenshots now, so here we go ;)
There is a bunch more! But this is all from my "archive" of last week as I didn't set out to make screenshots this week. Also, it is so much fun to explore in person, so anyone on the fence should just join and at least walk/boat/train around ;)
100% this. Sometimes I'll log in when I don't have any projects or builds in mind and just take in the sights. :)
I haven't been on as much as I would like lately, but I very much appreciate the screenshot posts. They often give me the nudge to log in, if only for a few minutes, to see one of the cool things you highlighted.
Oh next time you are on you should definitely not go to the top of the nether roof tower. If you somehow still end up there, you most certainly shouldn't stand on the suspiciously placed block and most definitely not press the button while standing on the block.
That was a lot of fun!
ahem... I mean to say: N-Noooo! I would never stand on something that clearly looks like a trap and push a button obviously meant to trigger said potential trap. Who would fall for something like that?
I found this suspicious button and definitely heeded the advice of the sign. Yup! No way did I disregard that and immediately push it. No sir!
This is something I have been thinking about the past few days. I want people to explore my area, so I have hidden secret rooms and passageways throughout to encourage exploration. So does posting screenshots encourage people to check out my area or do people think they have already seen it so they don't check it out? Also, it is probably a mixture and not one or the other.
It is a valid concern and I do try to balance it by not showing all details and mostly just overviews. The one exception might have been the screen recording of the volcano ride I did, as gravy can't use shaders and DH themselves.
In general, I try to show overviews, not extreme details. People that are satisfied just looking at overviews likely wouldn't join anyway.
Stepbro, I'm stuck...Thought I would ping all my neighbours who have not been on recently to ask where you have been?
@Positive @Durinthal @PelagiusSeptim @zatamzzar
thanks for the ping! :)
I've been busy with summer, kids, and Deeprock Galactic. Looking forward to getting back on soon and seeing what has been built!
-Positive
You're welcome. I was unsure at first if I should ping my neighbours or not, as I didn't want you to feel obligated to return, but I was curious since some of you were quite active at the start.
The area has changed a bit (mostly my expanding house into the unused area around me), but for the most part not much has changed. Glad you were able to enjoy the summer with your kids
In case anyone missed my last post, I'm throwing together a haunted house for Halloween. I think it'll be done in a few more days, so no peeking in the meantime!
Only 1 room left to do in the haunted house before it's completed and open to the public! I wanted to try and get it finished today, but I ran into some issues with one of my ideas, and I also had to redo a few things for some reason (several armor stands seem to have mysteriously disappeared; I think @teaearlgraycold had something to do with it because when I logged off last, he was in the area :P). I also haven't yet thought of what I should do with the remaining room, but I'm sure something will come to me soon.
I'm finally back from vacation! Looking forward to getting back online and seeing all the changes over the last couple weeks.
So I am planning on starting a communal potions lab. I am thinking of repurposing this abandoned house: https://imgur.com/a/G17nDda. If this is your house please let me know, and if it is fine if I repurpose it.
I have a design in mind, so if I use that house, I would turn it into an old style diner, with the brewing area in the basement. Then, I will create autobrewers for the main types of potions, and when you want a potion you will have to go into the basement to grab it.
Thanks for the suggestions last week on various locations to settle in Tildestown. I've gone for the one on the cliff side. Not fully decided what I'm building yet just having fun carving a basement into the rock since it's multi level. I might end up digging the whole thing out and trying a multi level thing in the space left behind. I'm currently vibing with the exposed rock structure in the west of the plot and might try to somehow incorporate that.
I've also been enjoying just wandering around still and seeing various builds. I like the swamp hut that looks like a tree from the outside down south of the main town.
Finally updated my Minecraft install and hopped on briefly. @Arknata was immediately welcoming and helpful—thanks! Apparently they're building an inn in the middle of nowhere.
Thanks to @GravySleeve for the big tour of the volcano and <unspecified spoilers>. Crazy impressive stuff there! Logged out near your haunted house and will check it out next time when it's nighttime on the server.
Really cool to see you exploring the server! I hope you enjoyed your time there :D
Thanks! I did! This is a great server full of friendly—and industrious!—people. @teaearlgraycold is super rad for continuing to host it.
It's neat that the 2024 server world is turning out so different. A lot of new and exciting stuff to explore. I saw some critters there that I'd never seen before too: a bee, a yak(?), blue birds. Unfortunately didn't have my usual carrots to feed them.
Swing by the community farms and pick some up ;) A lot of things are marked on dynmap. There are also two extra layers that are hidden by default: people home locations and transport related markers (like line stops, canal passages, etc).
By the way, can you add all 3 stops of the De Lijn line to the dynmap as well?
Sure thing.
Three, including the transit hub?
Or is there another one?
No, indeed, the 3rd one is the transit hub, which I guess we don't need a dedicated marker for, in hindsight
Certainly not because I just discovered that dynmap can do freaking lines!. I can properly add transport infrastructure to the map now.
Edit, above sentence makes little sense. I mean we don't need to add that one specifically, even less so now it will be clear where the transport line goes exactly because of the drawn line on the map.
Is the yak you're referring to the big green shaggy looking creature with a big snout? If so, that's called a sniffer!
Huh, I wonder what that's all about
Secrets!
creeschcrets?
Got to ask the mushroom folk!
I have been working on adding a port to my area. It even has a boat from the cubic cabana delivering cargo (I modified a boat design that @mendanbar made at the cubic cabana).

The haunted house is officially open! Come visit soon, located just to the southwest of the nether roof tower in town.
You may notice town has gotten a bit darker. I removed a ton of superfluous torches and hid the rest under moss carpets. Everything should still be spawnproof, but obviously, it's possible I missed a spot somewhere.
Moss carpets were such a good addition to the game. So useful.
I may have broken the moss farm. You built it right? The moss only seems to spread to all the blocks when I first turn it on, but then it quickly stops spreading as far until only a few blocks are being converted at a time. I couldn't find a tutorial making this specific design, so I'm not sure what to change. Everything seems to be in order as best I can tell.
Edit: I did also change over one of the moss block chests to the carpets...but I'm realizing now that they're craftable aren't they? That's why you didn't sort for them?
Yeah I decided that the carpets were probably more useful as bonemeal, so I had them going to composters. The one thing that can break the farm is if any of the stone glitches and becomes cobble instead. I tried to minimize that happening, but it can rarely occur in that style of farm. If you can spot any cobble from the catwalk you'll need to break it and clear if from any of the sorting. The other thing that can even more rarely happen is that sometimes the lava can glitch and disappear or turn to cobble. I've only seen that happen in the super fast ilmango farms though and mine is timed to be much slower to avoid that. If it's still having problems after checking those things I can take a look when I'm back from travel this weekend.
Edit: the stone turning to cobble happens when the chunk is unloaded before the pistons can come to rest. That's why the system is built to run via pressure plate and not a simple on/off lever that could be accidentally left on.
Yeah, it got unloaded while running, I cleared out the cobble and made sure the whole platform is stone. There doesn't seem to be any lava missing, and I'm pretty sure I put it back in the right place after clearing the cobble. It still converts all of the stone to moss when first turned on, but then it stops immediately.
Oh weird. If the pistons aren't firing then the redstone may have been damaged somehow. I'll take a look this weekend.
I may have worded that poorly, it does seem like the pistons are all working properly, but the moss won't spread to the newly pushed in blocks.
I might look into it tonight or tomorrow if I'll have the time. I should be able to reverse engineer it.
I looked at it again this morning, and I'm pretty sure it's bonemealing the moss block at the wrong time. I tried manually applying bonemeal and it worked fine, but the moss would only spread during the moment the water was clear. It looks like the dispenser is also trying to use bonemeal while the stone has water above it.
Edit: Tagging @Mendanbar so he sees this new information.
You were right, it was exactly this problem. I spent around 20 minutes reverse engineering it (creeschdamn is this farm cramped!), fiddled with the timings,
broke the farm a little bit once, and then fixed it and it seems like it now works. Its broken again. Isildur was AFK using it and it ran out of bonemeal.
We might wanna redirect a higher proportion of compostable outputs to the composters until we get a reliable bonemeal farm then. Especially the azalea bushes etc, are produced in comparatively high quantities
The way it works is that few hoppers go into self-sustaining it, and those few hoppers will compost everything. The rest only gets bonemealed when their respective storage area is full.
I might spend some time researching a bonemeal only farm
Might be worth doing something outside of town that is high capacity. Then, just make sure that it gets unloaded properly (like move the nether portal away from the off switch, so that people don't unload it right away) or have chunk loaders with a cool down
I have a high throughput bonemeal farm schematic that produces a bonemeal block a second. It's mostly an ilmango design. I ended up going with the moss farm instead for a more maintenance friendly and versatile approach, but I could probably set up the big bonemeal farm when I'm back from travel.
Edit: I'm also happy to provide the schematic if anyone is interested in poking around and/or building it.
May I suggest building the new moss farm right next to the old one and pulling a "Daniel vs The Better Daniel" meme on it? :D
Did you do any modifications to it after it was broken? I've been running it for ~20 minutes now, and the number of bone meal inside the dispensers is definitely net positive. I'll run it for more time just in case.
I didnt do anything except clear out the backed up stone and cobble that got pushed into the lava flow. But there certainly wasnt any bonemeal in the dispenser.
Not sure how it got fixed, but its good to know its working again.
@IsildursBane I was working on dealing with a drowned issue and just happened to look up and spot this awesome view of your place https://www.creesch.com/dump/img/img_11f78b79109460be0f21e33d5479a37e8ea5b119.jpg
Are you getting rid of my slow drowned farm? I am hoping to get a trident from that one of these days. That is a cool view though
I have a spare trident if you want one.
Edit: By coincidence I got another one tonight while working on a project, so I'll definitely give you one next time we're both on.
I am not in need of one, it is more of something that would be cool to get by luck
uh yeah, because drowned are annoying and it is on the way from spawn ;)
Dynmap already had a hidden layer for transport stops, it now features a full transport network map! (or just visit https://tildes.nore.gg and enable the layer :D)
Love the new transport layer. Looks really cool. Just one note: the soap station red line extension isn't added. Is that a deliberate choice? Can we do dotted lines for things like that?
Oh, I completely forgot to add it, I'll do that once I am back on.
I don't believe dotted lines are an option, I likely will just make it red maybe change the opacity a bit.
Oh, I've also reclaimed my position as king of death. You hear that @TaylorSwiftsPickles? You're #2 now!
:(
I built a coral fan generator at -1720/1450. It is set up to use full shulkers of bonemeal since it CRANKS through the stuff, but there's currently not that much bonemeal on the server. If you want to use it, I made it so you can manually fill all the dispensers.
I also emptied the witch farm of glass bottles and slightly refilled the honey farm at @eyechoirs' estate since it was completely out of bottles. Put 2 stacks in each dispenser
Something we should consider building is a bonemeal farm. The moss farm can provide bonemeal, but the single composter backs up pretty quickly, as it seems like it was meant to be a moss farm not a bonemeal farm.
I will probably have use for glass bottles soon. I am making good progress on the potion lab, so hopefully soon it will be in need of a good supply of bottles (and other brewing supplies).
Yeah the single speed hopper in the overflow was a design flaw I just couldn't fix after the fact. If I had to do it over I'd redesign the collection a bit to be faster... Maybe 2x hopper speed. I agree that a proper bonemeal only farm is probably in order if we're needing it in quantity. Coral and sea pickles especially require very large amounts.
If you need glass bottles, I was at the witch farm for maybe an hour when building the storage and doing a little afk and got 2 shulkers worth. Its pretty fast
I haven't seen @eyechoirs on the server in a while, and they never responded to my last ping requesting some combat at the PvP arena. Hopefully all is well.
