Tildes Minecraft Survival Weekly Thread
Server host: tildes.nore.gg
Dynmap: https://tildes.nore.gg
The server operates on a soft whitelist. Anyone can log in and walk around, but you need a Tildes account to gain build access.
A lot of builds have been completed since the last thread. What have you all been up to?
Edit: If you would like to, you can help pay for the server costs on Patreon. So far I've been paying for it myself.
I created a mini game called Duck Hunt (located north of my house, and east of the cafe).
You borrow a bow and some arrows, flick the lever on the right (as well as the left if you want a harder challenge) and shoot as many chicks as possible as they fall. Then enter your score in the book and return your gear. If possible, please try to grab the arrows you missed while shooting, by crouching into the gap.
Foxes below the game will... "dispose of" the chicks you missed, so lag doesn't become a thing.
It may take some time to reset, as it relies on chickens laying eggs to fill up the hoppers/dispensers.
That sounds absolutely morbid... I'm gonna have to try it next time I'm online
A cute little addition to town: sewers added a little while ago.
That looks great! maybe we can add some item pipes down there to funnel items from farms directly into the warehouse.
Do you mean the small warehouse near the sugarcane farm, or that massive depository under the lake? It would only take hoppers leading into the right chests for that.
Heck, I might dig some temporary exploratory tunnels next time I'm on and see how feasible that would be. Someone let me know if I'm overstepping my bounds by modifying two people's builds
For longer distance we could use water mechanics, as long as we have space and the chunks load.. and that would match the sewer look.
Yep, I was tired when I made that comment and did not mentally make the connection between the comment I was replying to and the context of it. The sewers are already tunnels lmao
Peep -9700,-250 on the dynmap to see what I've been working on, lol.
Link to it on DynMap
love it!
Omg that's amazing!!
Bastions are one of the few places in Minecraft that still scare the bejeezus out of me, but Bauke has gone and built a whole froglight farm in one! This is massively impressive to me. If you haven't stopped by and seen it, make sure you do! There's even a spot where you can sign your name on the wall.

Since some time I've been building a hotel-thing, which I intend to make really, really tall (a skyscraper, essentially). And recently I also got the idea that it'd be pretty cool to let different people design different floors however they want, to make it a cool place to visit and explore once enough floors are made. Let me know if it's something you'd be interested in!
Love this idea. Maybe we can have a floor design contest.
happy to participate
Ooo definitely happy to add my flair to this as well! Fun idea!
For those who weren't aware, there's a new villager trading hall at 916, 51 - for all your enchanting needs!
The trading hall has been expanded to include:
There's also a direct Elevated Line (air-subway or tram for those fellow non-UK) that takes you there from Skelly Station (which is a stop away from Town Center Station) (ty Delphi)!
Is this the mossy-covered villager area? If so, I noticed there weren’t any of the Weaponsmith villagers (who use the grindstone). Do you know if this was by design? Would it be ok if I made some?
Hmm, the three hallways all have villagers, did you check around every corner upstairs? I'm 85% sure we have grindstone villagers! :) If not, then I'm sure it would be fine to add some indeed! You can always check with @Bauke if you're unsure!
Just went to check because I thought I put all the workstations in there, but I most have forgotten this one. I'll add some in now, thanks for noticing it @Dontberobot! :)
Yessss more villagers to sell that sweet, sweet iron to.
Oh, and there's a wither skull farm in the Nether!
It's been genuinely a decade since I've played, but decided to hop in and at least for now set up my own little cottage on the river to the west of town (-130, -510). Need to reacquaint myself with a lot of mechanics and find out what all's new since then!
Heck yeah, welcome! Most of us are happy to help in whatever way we can. Don't hesitate to ask :)
There's also a lot of farms that are community accessible - next to the big map in the town square is a book of all available farms!
I finally consider my guardian XP farm “finished” and ready to use! Faster XP rates than an Enderman farm, except it doesn’t work if other players are in the nether, because it uses portals to gather them all in one place.
From the nether area in town, follow the Prismarine path out to my mushroom island, and then a Prismarine spiral staircase (thanks Starman!) into the sky to get to the killing chamber.
It also collects drops, so help yourself to all the Prismarine and fish your heart desires!
Ooo that's definitely something my EU primetime butt can make use of then, thanks for building it out!!
Likewise for my Australia prime time being mostly empty too!
When you say “doesn’t work” do you mean it will break or just the rates are garbage? I don’t want to mess anything up.
By "doesn't work" I believe he means that the guardians won't successfully make their way through the nether portals (they go into the nether, but despawn because there are no players within a certain radius). In other words, the experience rate will be zero.
Credit - @Bendvis was kind enough to explain it to me.
Rates go to zero but nothing is broken.
Because the kill chamber and the ocean monument are both in the over world, the guardians go to the nether into a holding room for a few seconds before coming through to the overworks again. If another player is in the nether, each guardian that goes into the nether holding room immediately despawns.
A bandaid fix for this issue is to deliberately have someone in the nether but close enough to the holding chamber to prevent the despawns, but then we’re getting a little too finicky.
Easiest option is just to pop a message in chat asking if people are in the nether before you make your trip over there, everyone on the server so far has been really polite and friendly.
dingdorp found a great spot for a zoo (-45, -261 for the loading dock, which connects to two oceans thanks to a canal they made, and has tons of space to expand down towards spawn), which could be a fun community project. Both creature wranglers and habitat builders are needed (don't feel any pressure to do both if you'd rather not). Please feel free to have fun and let your creative juices flow on exhibit designs.
I made a little cronjob that will tabulate play time hourly:

O yea, pumping up the numbers with afk farm time :)
Since there isn't a new weekly thread yet I'll post here -- someone built a dam (labelled as "water treatment plant") at 1470,-450, right to the west of my main base (at 1540,-390), blocking boat travel on the most direct route between my base and Norriston's canal (and thus the most direct route by boat to Tildestown from my base). It's a large barrier and built out of I think quartz and deepslate, and it's got a cool bypass canal with a grate to only let through water, so clearly some effort was put into it. The sign labelling it a "water treatment plant" is on the eastward side pointing towards my base rather than the westward side by the other nearby bases.
I don't want to be an asshole destroying someone else's build or building a janky canal to bypass it that ruins whatever reason they built it. But I don't see what it accomplishes other than blocking me specifically (I'm the only one living on the blocked-off section of river) from travelling back to town or anything else on that same stretch of sea by boat without taking a huge, winding detour. I don't know who built it so I don't know who to ask about it, and I have a bug that prevents me from writing spaces on signs so communicating that way in-game is even more difficult than it otherwise would be. So I'm not really sure how to best deal with this situation.
@Bauke should be able to tell you who built it using the “/co inspect” command.
I think @goryramsy built it but I'm not sure, CoreProtect says there isn't data for a lot of the blocks in that area.
cc. @sparksbet
Ah, that thing. By all means destroy it, if you don’t, I’ll edit it to add a boat bypass or take it down myself. I’m sorry for building there, I did not know there was a claim system.
It's okay, there isn't any sort of claim system, I just couldn't get through suddenly and was frustrated. A boat bypass would be all I'd need, I think it actually looks kinda cool ngl
You’re too kind! Personally, I think it looks like an oil pipeline fell over and died, so it needs some fixing up. I’ll hop one later today to make a canal with dispensers and water buckets, in the meantime feel free to dig a hole right through it or whatever you need to do.
I've got a Nether shortcut as of today so no rush, I'll really only need the river as an easy path north to harvest ice so it's not a short-term issue!
I just fixed up a boat system, it’s not the final revision but it’s working for now.
The Trident Inn has opened! You can locate it by the East Docks in Town. Want to stay a night? No problem, we offer rooms. Want to see the town from birds eye? No problem, we have a lookou tower. Want to have the steak? No problem, we offer the best steaks on server!
I haven't been able to log in lately because of a lot of work and life events, though I'm excited to see all the changes when I log back in again!
I haven’t been on the server in a bit, last time I logged on was to build part of an underwater base. I might just make it look abandoned and scrap the project
I just put together a chess set if anyone wants some games in their game. It's next to the Duck Hunt game and the café, on Therapia Lane south of town.
This is probably a newb-y question, but can someone explain to me how the iron farm works? I know where it is (in the villager trading hall) but I have no idea how to operate it and it'd be pretty useful lol
It works automatically, and drops are collected in a row of chests in the trading hall (on the level under most of the traders). Mechanically, it's using village mechanics to make villagers spawn iron golems in a specific spot, then pushing those golems to a spot that kills them and collecting the drops with hoppers.
I went back tonight after reading this and it turns out I'd been checking the wrong chest 😅
Thanks so much for setting this up! I've been having a ton of fun base building and exploring. FYI for other players: It's pretty easy to set up a modded Vanilla+ client to enhance the experience without needing to mod the server. Here's what I have running and working just fine when I join the server:
Client: GDLauncher using the Fabric Modloader
Mods: Iris/Sodium/Indium, Xaeros minimap/worldmap, continuity, AmbientSounds, shulkerboxtooltip
Shaders: Builder's QOL shaders
Resource Pack: Stay True
The minimap/worldmap combo is a big game changer in particular. I use it to see where I've explored and set in game waypoints for important locations. I've tried in the past to just use Minecraft's in game maps, but they're really hard to use effectively IMO and I end up feeling very lost most of the time.
I tried to join the server today but I spawned into a hole surrounded by slabs so I could not jump out and since it is spawn protected I could not break a block below me to build out. Anyone new will be instantly trapped.
