I had the exact same experience after my first shot (pfizer), got my period during what should have been mid-cycle - weirded me out as someone who's been as regular as clockwork since I got my first period at 12. Each subsequent shot has had a minor impact on my schedule and increased the length by a day for a few months. I had my first (to my knowledge) bout of covid a few weeks ago and it seems to have done the same thing.

Out of curiosity, when's the last time you tried firefox? It definitely used to have a lot of problems, but they've made some massive improvements lately. I switched from chrome to FF about six months ago on my 2018 MBA and it runs a lot better. I'm running all my usual addons (ublock origin, cookie editor, etc).

Regarding the seat warmers - I know of two people that have gotten so annoyed at not being able to control those without digging through touchscreen menus that they ran wires to the seats and added their own toggle switches. It is absurd that someone can design a system and get it through to production and have a product be so unusable.

My car (Mazda MX-5) has a touch screen, but it's disabled while the car is in motion so there are physical buttons for most of what I need. There are times I wish I could control the touch screen, but hearing about basic functionality like heaters and wipers being hidden in touch screen menus makes me quite content with what I have. Most of the things I can't control with buttons I can do with Siri through carplay, and if really necessary I can always pull over to the side of the road - I've had to do this a few times when Google Maps has done something annoying.

Edit: And it makes me wonder how many accidents are caused by people flipping through touch screen menus. We know how bad phones are for distracted driving, is a touch screen any better?

I can't parse the title of this post: "In the wider context of removing things users like it there could be drama"

Basically, there's a lot of very mad reddit power users right now because of recent changes to the API, awards system, and certain admin/mod interactions. Bringing back r/place is giving a canvas to those users, who will organize to vent their spleens all over it.

In previous iterations, this resulted in things like r/miata coordinating to create an image of a miata with their sub name under it. This time? I'd expect the coordinated art to be a bit more... colourful.

The last time r/place happened, there was a "controversy", because a reddit admin removed a hate symbol from the canvas.

I just upgraded my 2015 paperwhite to the latest paperwhite with the leather cover and wireless charging stand bundle they had discounted for prime day. The screen and battery life are both major upgrades, not to mention the upgrade to waterproof. I've tried reading on my ipad on vacation before, and it's just nowhere near as pleasant an experience due to screen glare.

I just got back from vacation a week and a half ago - 2 incredible weeks in Rome and Paris that involved way too many michelin restaurants - and on my flight home, started feeling off. By the time I got home that night, my partner had tested positive for COVID and the next morning I was sick as fuck. I spent five days living on broth, gatorade, and painkillers, then slowly started re-incorporating small bits of food. I'm still not able to eat much at once, my stomach's too shrunken and sensitive, but I've got a fridge full of summer stone fruit, berries, and sandwich ingredients. We'll see how it goes over the next few days.

Anyone who's ever modded a large subreddit (or other forum) has encountered the rules lawyer - "You have a rule against X, but it doesn't say I can't do X+1!" and then the inevitable "If you don't want to allow X+1, you should say that in the rules!"

It's such a frustrating experience and if you go down that path, as you said, it's a never ending arms race of adding, editing, and expanding the rules to try and fit every niche situation. The tildes coc is, imo, all that should be needed for any reasonable adult to know how to conduct themselves on this site - not being able to adhere to it and claiming it's too vague is likely (not always, but often) looking for ways to skirt the edges of those rules so they can point to a specific subsection to justify poor behaviour.

Losing weight is hard - it's really fucking hard. The mechanics of it are simple, calories in < calories out, but the execution... that's where it gets you. And as hard as that initial weight loss is, that's the easy part - maintaining it is the killer. I've been struggling with the same 10lbs for about a year now with the goal of getting to 18% bf. I'm a small woman with a lot of muscle mass (I was a serious powerlifter for years), so 5lbs of fat in either direction is the difference between my pants fitting or being too tight to comfortably wear.

Given the things you've written in your post, there's two things I'll recommend you do right now:

    1. If you're close to your original goal, set a new goal. This can be weight related, muscle related, BF%, a lift number, it doesn't matter. What DOES matter is setting it before you reach your current goal. And when you start closing in on your new goal, set ANOTHER ONE. The important thing here is that you NEVER reach your final goal, never have the feeling of "I'm done, I have accomplished the thing!"
    2. recognize and accept that this never ends. There is no "I'm done with my diet", there's no "I don't have to worry about this anymore". This is a life long commitment with no short cuts, no cheats, no workarounds, just hard work and commitment.

You can have fun, you can indulge occasionally, have a week of vacation and enjoy, as long as you always come back to that original commitment to yourself and your health.

It's going to unleash a torrent of shit. It's already a whine fest when a bunch of users submit the same content within minutes of each other with accusations of favouratism, imagine how bad it will get with money on the line. Posts that hit the top of r/all get inundated with awards. If that now translates into cash, the tantrums are going to be through the roof.

Then add in the fact that mods are often some of the most prolific posters in their subs - how long until that becomes weaponized with accusations of manipulation so the mods make money off the subs at the expense of their users? It already happens over meaningless karma.

The absolute best thing you can do is get a sewing machine and take some basic classes (or watch videos) on how to alter clothing. Being able to shorten the hem on pants, take in the waist of a dress, etc is invaluable. You can find them cheap on the second hand market, and can practice on scrap fabric to get comfortable.

Finding brands that work for you is great too, and knowing what works in general, but that's sometimes not the best option for me - I'm short, high waisted, and have a big ass. Reformation fits me really well, but they often make their dresses in a midi length that doesn't work for me unless it's a body con dress so if there's a dress I really love, I'll hem it to knee length. I did a session with a local designer who went through my wardrobe and dissected what worked on me and why, identified gaps, and took me on a personal shopping trip to find local shops & brands that worked for me. If you can do something similar, I highly recommend it.
