Now that is a bow. It's ridiculous size translates well in the pixel sprite I spotted. It's simple, but the white ruffle against the red stands out in grayscale as well. I'm going to make the argument that this bow comes out far ahead of some of the others because this character is almost more bow than human, with the way it's transformed from project to project while staying identifiable. In the character lineup, she's also very unique, even though the rest of the night caps are stellar.

The movement of the bow adds a lot to [her attacks when they're animated.] (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8QATGKYaJc) When she holds it down and the bow's on the floor it adds a lot to her childish character.

The fact that it's right on the front of her head is very cute. The contrast of the darker fabric pops on her forehead and matches her dress, so it's got a lot going for it.

When I think of bows, my mind auto points to Sailor Moon, but there must be more variety I've never noticed. In Sailor Moon, each of the girls had a bow that reflected their personality and matched the rest of their outfit. As a set, they're pretty iconic, and the bows were functional (for transformation, ofc). Arguably, Kiki's bow from Kiki's delivery service is lively, but I'd also say the magic comes from the Miyazaki's animation. Would a big bow even move like that? I like the costuming details on the Sailor Moon bows, but the volume in Kiki's is undeniably cuter.

I have started being more assertive this year, after I was cornered late at night by a man in an elevator last fall. Prioritizing my own needs and communicating them to people around me has empowered me to build a support network that has enabled me to avoid, buffer or completely ditch people in my life that were incredibly toxic or disrespectful. This process has caused me a lot of difficulty and hardship at this point, but it's just been worth it. Still worth it.

I'm not keen to watch a video without a summary, and I've stayed away from this topic for a number of reasons, but I wouldn't want my workplace to represent me on any topic so divisive. There are hundreds of people in a studio in some cases, and I doubt they're having open discussions about it, so maybe no? I wish we could go back to a time when people had public discussion in community groups that could represent these issues, not entire industries and giant corporations.

Each of Prahlad Yeri's points could and should be applied to software like Adobe, which seems to be, like their "evangelist" events, trying to become an everything company for a creatives wet dreams. In that context, these programs are huge and overburdened with UI.

    1. Too much bloat as one software must cater to everyone’s needs.

Developers ignore significant problems, because they are tasked with developing new features.

    1. Open invitation to authoritarian software like DRMs, Adware, blobs, etc.

Integrated software becomes a conflict, where companies like Pantone (a monopoly in itself) pull out over monetary disputes; however, independent software creators that make Photoshop exponentially more useful for professionals have trouble keeping up with the reams of standards and updates that make their custom products useless. Adobe Cloud is in and of itself an example of authoritarian software.

    1. Use of Internet as propaganda tool.

The event was literally propaganda, so I'll leave that right there.

    1. Inefficient and bloated JavaScript.

Legacy code. Change the language to C++ or C# and, badabingbadaboom it's the result of monopolistic behaviours, see my point for 1..

There's no real reason this should be a thing, but this enshittification from either low computer literacy is or a disregard for societal implications seems to not matter to bodies making reigning in these companies.

    It is ripe for exploitation.

The way you should not start dating your bosses son, who also works at the tattoo parlor you just got a job at, is the same as lopsiding the compensation like this. It can lead to unprofessional and sketchy dependencies and expectations.

An example might be for her to be asked to do anything she's not 100% comfortable with to "benefit the brand" or "make the company better". Her benefit is implied and her denial is treasonous, especially with so much of the team in a similar situation.

In that small tattoo shop, for example, a destruction of boundaries might mean skipping paid holidays, or not being able to do your laundry because your boyfriends mom's boss "needs" you to cover her shift. You might be also be "learning" from them, and you may feel you owe them, all things considered.

That's my perspective, at most, which might be leaning on the fact that it's sex work, but many kinds of creative labour's are extremely abused.

It's an interesting thought. I've suggested Tildes to my own group in our third space, but no one really seems to want a new thing. It looks like bluesky was chosen, because people could connect there, where as Tildes is still a little isolated. I will share articles from Tildes, but not specifically the threads. So far I haven't had an invite to share, as well.

I 100% agree with Pioneer's post as well. This is a perfect place if it's exactly what you're looking for.

Edit for methods and strategies: connect with larger organizations; create public forums for geographically based groups without isolating particular demographics; clearly communicate what makes Tildes unique and relevant, to encourage people to visit. Send codes to notable people and intellectuals. Get a write up in magazines, specific to either your existing and/or target audience.

People hate advertising but they love propaganda. It seems to be a contemporary theme in our media. Maybe it began with the Wendy's twitter, or perhaps the invention of the graphic tee. It could have started in the 1950's; although, people have worshiped enlightened despots centuries before this man. I hope this movie is exactly what it becomes and people can see it for what it is.

    Trauma.

Also, he had a pillow held over his face. He could have brain damage. He was left in a bed and couldn't move, developing bed sores. He is continuously being restrained. He is not allowed to leave his room for physical exercise. I'm not a medical professional, but it doesn't sound as though that's your particular expertise either, so I'd rather keep off the specifics of what sounds correct or likely. That's not helpful analysis at this point.

I agree that there's some explanations missing, but the core of the story is that the extreme sensory needs of people with what could be one of many issues, is not being properly addressed in the UK medical system. I completely agree that there should be funding and an inquisition, followed by decisive action to bring these peoples lives out of abject abuse and less than third world conditions. God save the king as they say.

"16 Learn from peers in other countries. Keep up your friendships abroad, or make new friends in other countries. The present difficulties in the United States are an element of a larger trend. And no country is going to find a solution by itself."

    -- Timothy Snyder "On Tyranny"

Leaders that identify the enemy as the other, and say they're the entire problem are misleading frightened people. Clearing off foreigners is not a magic bullet, but it's like there's no other possible future people see right now. It's distressing how anti-immigrant discussions are becoming on other online communities, and now with moves like this standing as examples.

The article itself is "confirming my membership" and won't load, but I am very, very excited to see things like this bubble up. The entire structure of those platforms is built for repetitive patterns, so I'd argue, you'd need separate skins for websites and apps that attract younger people, anyways.

The states said Meta’s algorithms were designed to push children and teenagers into rabbit holes of toxic and harmful content.

We are far too disconnected with the media we consume. At least back in the day, when you were on a sleazey website, you were aware. Now everything's very homogeneous, which can be tricky to spot bias, among, obviously, everything else that's even led to a young teenager's death.

I rotate between optimal and bare bones, depending on my life's squall force.

    • Everything based on long term goals and all specific deadlines
    • Weekly goals and events broken down and listed onto Google calendar and a Moleskine journal. (soon to be a Techo Weeks and Midori daily journal)
    • a digital task reminder for random to-dos, so I don't carry over things like "do that random unrelated thing that's mildly important"; so I remember to stand up and take breaks, as in general reminders; and scheduled weekly and monthly tasks.

When I fall behind because something happens, I take a scrap of paper and list my top priorities, including any self care, and only focus on that.

    Other small things,

    • I pay for Freedom, a website blocker. I use it to avoid social media, shopping, habitually checking email, or any bad online habits. It's got other features as well, like Pomodoro timers and background noise players.
    • sticky notes in colours I like, that make my day
    • google keep reminders
    • Taking photos of everything that needs to get done around the house, to list and prioritize
