In some states up to ten cars per day were impounded on grounds of excessive noise, burnouts, dangerous driving, street racing, etc. In other states, the penalty for "hooning" is thousands of dollars per charge, or six months imprisonment.

I do love the comment from the strongest man competitor at the end: "People ask me how can you be as strong as an ox if you don't eat meat? -- he laughs and replies something to the effect "Have you ever seen an ox eat meat?"

I know several professors in the middle of their careers who, despite having young families, brag or moan about having to work out of hours until after midnight daily and even pull all-nighters at least once per week to keep up with their administrative paperwork load. Until reading this article I had considered this phenomenon a symptom of a malfunctioning system rather than a display of masochistic chest-beating!

Edit: to include reference URL to 10% opt out being expected, with <10% being "tracking positively" from June 2018.

A school chef served a chili made with beef and kangaroo meat, justifying the decision to add kangaroo based on its nutritional quality of low fat content.
I think the school overreacted, but this opinion may be biased due to (a) being Australian, and (b) liking kangaroo meat as food.
Other sources indicate that not only has the school apologised publicly but also that the chef was dismissed.

There was a 'special investigation' last night on the news. It is very much a current issue, with hoon groups using social media to announce burnout/street drags minutes before the events and large numbers of cars converging onto the area. Then they post videos online afterwards to brag about it. There was video footage shown on the evening news of cars doing circle work within metres of houses, road barriers, and even running over people.
