I've been using ChatGPT to help me learn Japanese. I copy paste some Japanese text and ask it to break it down and explain the grammar and translate the vocabulary. It works super well at parsing Japanese sentences which are not broken up with spaces in a way that online dictionaries don't.

they could argue those emulated old games are lost revenue through their Nintendo online retro library

My very limited understanding of lawsuits suggests that you often need to be able to demonstrate that you've suffered damages, with loss of sales being a particularly salient way of doing that

My favorite developer used to be Donut Games. They had like 40 games total and all were super fun with a unique art style.

I use Glitchwave, which is from the same developers as RateYourMusic. It doesn't have a ton of users unfortunately, but the genre filtering and charting is really good. Would recommend.

But yeah thinking back a lot of his specials didn't age well. Even aside from the gross masturbation stuff; I'm thinking back to his bit where he argued that everyone should be allowed to say the n-word... definitely wouldn't fly anymore these days...

this is one of my favorite Jazz albums together with Alice Coltrane's Journey to Satchidananda.

I don't have a lot of insight things to say about it, I just love the mood it builds throughout the album.

The piano part at the end of the third song "Chenrezig" is one of the most euphoric moments in music I know.

Idk I know some people where weed usage has triggered some psychosis type symptoms for them. Mostly from long term use though, but I still wouldn't underestimate the way weed can fuck up your psyche

I remember how upset I was that they straight up came out and said "no the indoctrination theory is not true". Still baffling to me now how at least didn't leave their shitty open to interpretation...

I'm sorry that happened to your friend OP, but it would be nice if we could have thread titles that are not straight up transphobia. Because just scrolling by and reading that can be upsetting.

But I have largely the same feelings as you. I liked the beginning of crisis zone, especially following it live on Instagram and having all the timely jokes (Animal Crossing, BLM protests, etc) but the whole Netflix show thing just got increasingly more stupid. I was actually really surprised in the positivie reception it got.

I was also really disappointed in Below Ambition, especially since I really enjoyed all the previous stories about Megg and WWJ playing in their band. It just was neither funny not insightful.

Bad Gateway was amazing though, so I'm holding out hope that the next serious story will be a return form.

you can't really compare a movie taking in a billion dollars of box office from consumer's money to the state spending money on literacy programs

Something that comes to mind for me is some advice I've heard in regard to social life and friendship:

    1. If someone invites you to something, just say yes. Even if it's not something that I may be initially interested or I feel like having a lazy day, just regularly giving myself the push to do something has helped tremendously with my social life and making friends. It broadened my horizons and strengthened friendships. (Obviously you don't have to say yes to EVERYTHING, but generally if your work colleague / fellow student invites you to play tennis, grab drinks later, just go)

    2. Making friends is hard work and you need to put in the effort. Things won't just come to you by themselves. This is especially true as one gets older. If you have a feeling that you get along with someone you actually have to put in the effort to ask someone for their socials/phone number and suggest concrete days to hang out.
