Sunday was beautiful and sunny so I walked around the city and ended up listening to the album "Jagged Little Pill" by Alanis Morissette.

I remember my sister had this one when I was a kid and also remember a lot of the cultural memes about it related to "Ironic" being mostly just unfortunate events. I havent listened to all of the songs or much of it as an adult.

The album is really good. It is an album with many songs describing the feeling of loss and anger at the end of a relationship, the sense of kinship to a younger person who hasn't had to learn these harsh truths yet (You Learn), and just the feeling of growing up through your 20s.

I am a 31 year old male but even though many might consider this album targeting a female audience I still felt it spoke to me about life, love, loss, and joy. I'd suggest giving it a listen if you ever want to have some feels.

Oh! And I split my hand open listening to Rage Against the Machine while boxing on the heavy bag.

To summarize, I am annoyed that there are two different standard for 4-pole audio connectors. For those curious I mean this.

You have OMTP and CTIA, the difference is they swap the mic and ground pins. This is irritating because Apple vs Android use them differently. This becomes especially annoying when you want a feature like an inline mic mute switch (one designed for CTIA for example will disconnect the ground pin on OMTP instead of mic)

This has been an ongoing frustration for me for a while. I really enjoy a good pair of headphones because I use Discord and I work from home which necessitates using headphones for extended periods of time to listen to music, take calls, chat on discord.

I just want there to be a device that does OMTP/CTIA swapping AND include the ability to physically mute the mic. Like this but with something that will break the mic pin. Im currently designing something in fritzing that will allow both direction switching as well as selective muting.

Has anyone else had any similar experience or frustration with this problem?

What about two separate games released to be intertwined where one is a tactical command game and the other is a FPS which the troop orders and movements are directed by the players playing the tactical game?

Probably wouldn't work because the number of players would be messed up so the wait times for games would suck

Imprisoning everyone isn't helping the issues and will only create a whole new set of problems.

The sentiment of "rapid growth" and change seems like a common theme of the internet. People like self-sustaining communities but the issue is it requires a huge audience to always be active which creates problems of overgrowth and community change and all that. Stagnation or the new users outnumber the old users that made the platform great

I struggle with this on my Discord server too :(

I think the later ones (except the round) are still sort of supported by the community, I know one of the issues was due to the servers shutting down so a lot of the apps must be side loaded now. Probably not worth it because the supply is gone too and prices are likely to be inflated at this point.

I'm currently in a "how can I improve and refocus" and wanted to see what this group thinks since either seems we have some pretty thoughtful and techy people here.

I have toyed around for years with different techniques. I got really into GTD and used several apps focused on that even writing my own JavaScript app to use with Google sheets.

I've used spreadsheets, OneNote, Wunderlist, plain text files.

What do you use to keep your tasks moving forward and how do you use these tools to manage your tasks and get work done? I found spreadsheets are nice because you can do a lot of scratch work but it's hard to "check them off' but many "check them off" tools don't give you a lot of scratch workspace. OneNote is cool but I can't stand the Microsoft environment and it doesn't seem to give a lot of indication how best to use the tool. Maybe I should do a training....

I use the control, shift, backspace, delete, and arrow keys a lot when I am typing. Not sure if this is specific to Windows, though I am pretty sure this works the same in Ubuntu.

control arrow left, moves cursor to the beginning of the previous word
shift arrow left, highlights the character to the left of the cursor
    ctrl+shift left, highlights previous word
    ctrl+backspace, deletes previous word

a combo of these is really helpful when I botch a specific word previously in my sentence without having to go back and use my mouse to modify it

Hi there everyone. I gave up on smart watches after Pebble sold out to fitbit and my OG Pebble started having screen issues (again). I never watched to spend hundreds on a smart watch or switch to the iOS ecosystem to use an Apple watch.

I was wondering if anyone here has had success with any other watches after having to give up their Pebble, something with a great battery life and good notification features without resorting to terrible china-watches.

Hope you have a great day!
