Discussion rules
BEWARE OF SPOILERS. Since all episode discussions are within a single thread, here are some rules to ensure revisits are safe from spoilers.
1. How this thread is organized
- Each top-level comment is a mini-thread for each episode discussion. A new top-level comment will be added whenever another episode is released.
- All discussions must be posted as replies within the appropriate mini-threads only. No discussions should be posted as top-level comments.
- Anything without dedicated mini-threads can be posted under "General chat".
2. How to navigate and avoid spoilers
- Use the "Collapse replies" button to find the appropriate episode discussions more easily, and make potential spoilers less visible.
- You can also use the links at the bottom to jump directly to each episode discussion.
3. When and how to hide spoilers
- Within each mini-thread, discussions about the current and previous episodes are freely allowed.
- But, details about subsequent episodes and source materials are spoilers and must be hidden.
- To hide spoilers, you can follow the "Expandable sections" part of the formatting guide.
Tips on using "Expandable" format for spoilers
Currently there's a flaw where if the comment is collapsed (by using "Collapse replies" or other ways), the hidden parts can still be seen in the small blurbs.
The workaround is to further enclose the spoilers in quote block. See here for an example comment.

EPISODE 1 "Hidden Inventory"
It's been a while since I saw the first season and had a hard time recognizing the characters.
Man I like this show
EPISODE 5 "Premature Death"
Toji's my favorite character but I actually found this episode more heartbreaking than the previous one 😭 Friendship breakups are hard!!
General chat & misc discussion
Welcome everyone to our watchthrough of Jujutsu Kaisen! As mentioned in this thread, we're doing weekly-ish episode discussions for a number of shows of this season. For convenience, here's the list and links to their discussions. Feel free to participate in any of them.
As for how these were chosen, the idea is to focus on shows that have been recommended by at least 2 people, either in that thread or the Recommend summer anime thread. In this way, the main group feeds won't be flooded by too many empty threads (in cases of shows that weren't recommended by anyone), and anyone participating in the discussions will know that there's at least one other person who is also interested.
So, if there's any other shows that you'd like a dedicated discussion thread for, do recommend even if someone else already mentioned it! I'll set it up once there have been several mentions. Let me know if you have any other suggestion or question.
You designated General Chat as "anything other" so I'd just like to thank you for your effort.
I haven't had the time to do an actual episode discussion-esque comment but if I find the time after E2 I'll try to chime in.
No worries. With Activity sort people can comment at any times and it'd still be seen so there's no pressure to join early.
EPISODE 2 "Hidden Inventory 2"
These episodes have been promising.
As expected, MAPPA delivers on the animation quality. The prequel form has been interesting in a world expanding way, but I'm not sure where it's going or what the added value is at this point. Let's say I'm intrigued, Gojo is a character with quite a bit of mystery so it's fun to get a bit of information. If you've seen the movie there's a bit of wonder of what's going to happen with alignments but that's so far the only real connection I can see.
But... I'm just looking forward to the continuation of the main story. It's what got me hooked in the first place right? Itadori and his friends are just likable in a way that Gojo and Getou don't show. It's more of a hostile relationship than rivalry.
EPISODE 3 "Hidden Inventory 3"
I've been waiting for so long for non-manga readers to get to this exact moment. This episode makes me feel so happy just knowing how every anime watcher is processing life right now.
This comment had hyped me beyond belief, Mr internet stranger
I'm a non-manga reader but I'm also on tiktok so I've already seen a whole bunch of manga spoilers... but I'm still super hyped to finally reach this point in the anime! 🥹
I have never anticipated the demise of an on-screen friendship more than Satoru and Suguru. Their relationship in the movie raised so many questions. To be honest, I hadn't expected that Season 2 might be answering some of them until the trailers hit.
This episode does well to exemplify the integrity and kindness of the pair and their solidarity with each other. Toji versus Satoru and even Toji "versus" Riko take a backseat for me compared to
I have re-watched this episode twice now and still am not over Suguru's VA's delivery of his last lines in the episode.
The combat is sooooo good. MAPPA animation is sublime!!
Toji is so strong. Also it's hilarious that he remembers how child Satoru just looked at him wrong years ago, but he "doesn't remember" his own child 😂
Gun use is also kind of funny in a world where combat is mostly all about cursed energy. It was an "oh yeah I forgot guns exist" moment 😅
This is why I love this show. Amazing animation, a healthy subversion of tropes, and letting things get dark.
EPISODE 4 "Hidden Inventory 4"
Toji: To Gojo, I leave my son, Megumi
Toji: And to Geto, I leave my worm
Geto: 🤬
It was all over so quickly.
I'm an anime-only so really had no idea how long this Toji arc would be. Had thought the grudge match between Satoru and Toji might be at least another episode away. I'm in no doubt Toji will be a fanbase favourite.
There's a moment where Toji and Satoru are still standing off which feels like you are seeing two series antagonists face off against each other. Alas, it's just that Satoru has gone insane. Maybe you would be too if you realised that multiplying negative numbers together is the missing piece to your clan's secret technique.
Toji's final words to Satoru remind me of Roger entrusting the unborn Ace to Garp in One Piece.
The revisit of Episode 3's ending moments from a different angle at the start of this episode is interesting. The stabilised shot of Riko's head colliding against the floor seems an uncanny choice, like it was straight out of a TikTok video/influencer short.
