What have you been watching/reading this week?

note: title subject to change

A few days ago I asked this question and got a few replies, so I figure this idea is worth trying out. If there's enough interest I'll probably move the day that this gets posted to something more regular for the week like Friday/Saturday/Sunday, but I figured I could make this one and gauge interest for the week.

Anyway, what have you been watching/reading this week?

Feel free to talk about something you saw that was cool, something that was bad, ask for recommendations, or anything else you can think of.

If you want to, feel free to find the thing you're talking about and link to its Anilist, MAL, or any other anime/manga database you use!

My Hero Academia is awesome. It has some similar elements, IMO, yo Hunter X Hunter, which is a good thing. I highly recommend it. It has awesome personalities and is very funny to boot!

I've been rewatching KonoSuba. It's probably the funniest anime I've seen so far, I really enjoy it, and I've been catching some of the more subtle humour that I didn't see the first time.

Second season... eh. They kinda beat the same jokes to death. Oh well, that's how it usually goes with sequels, I guess.

I've been watching Sword Art Online for the first time as part of a group discussion, wrapping up the Aincrad arc today (start of the series). I like the overall idea but way too many little things I dislike about the execution compared to other "stuck in an MMO" anime that I've seen (Log Horizon, Overlord).

Slowly going through Sailor Moon, in the middle of S (third season). Haruka and Michiru are great, though I'm tired of the monster of the week formula.

Also about halfway through Princess Tutu and it's fantastic so far. Creative use of animation as a medium combined with an interesting metanarrative and excellent classical music.

I know people are excited for Alicization but if I was watching this on my own instead of with a group I would have dropped the show an episode or two into Fairy Dance/Alfheim. The villain is cartoonishly evil and the focus on Suguha isn't much better writing-wise.

That’s understandable. They’re not my favorite out of the animated arcs either.

There’s also a reboot of said aincrad arc in progress right now called Sword Art Online Progressive that’s being officially translated into english too!

This week I've not been reading that much. I've gotten myself hooked on Hunter x Hunter and I've been on and off binging the first ~20 episodes the last few days. So far I think it's marvelous and the first big arc has been very cliffhanger-y. Always leaving me where I don't want to pause in the middle of something, so I just can't put it down and end up watching 4 or 5 in a row til I feel like I'm in a good spot.

I also finished up New Game!! recently, and it was pretty much everything that I wanted out of it. Cute show, cute characters, wonderful idea.

Wow, I wasn't aware there was a gamedev anime! As someone who does a bit of gamedev myself this is definitely going on my list, thanks.

I've recently started re-watching One Piece after taking a break for a few years (I believe around episode 600-700). Currently powering through it, the early episodes were as memorable as ever and now I'm at the stage where there seems to be lots of useless drawn out battles and filler (episode 119). Luckily for me the One Pace project has an edited version of the next arc which should hopefully cut down how long I'm stuck watching it, as I remember it being so painfully long I would skip several episodes at a time.

I've tried reading the manga before (which I understand doesn't have as much of this as an issue like the anime does) but I struggle to enjoy it, it just doesn't hold my attention.

Just started Neon Genesis Evangelion last night. I know, I know, how could I have not seen one of the most important titles in the medium yet.

I’ve been staying up late nights to watch Revue Starlight on live telecast. It’s a mixed media project that has similarities to Love Live and Bandori - Revue is produced by Bushiroad who has hands in both and heads Bandori - but with a focus on their stage plays. The anime so far has been fantastic, with almost each episode featuring a insert song. The animation is a pleasure to watch and the story has been well constructed so far.

About watching. I just watching what mentioned here, but Shoujo☆Kageki Revue Starlight instead Muhyo to Roji no Mahouritsu Soudan Jimusho.

Nothing especial on this week but only one. I start watch Lupin only from the ongoing series. So, last outed episode (20th) was about (post-)Soviet location, it suprised me (I am from Ukraine), because it is very rarely to see good enough (post-)Soviet: backgrоunds, uniforms, buildings, cars etc.

I am currently reading last outed book Game of Thrones, so I do not have so much time for mangas.
