Is there interest in a board game-focused Discord server?
Edit: Well, given there's already a vaguely positive reception to the idea, I've went ahead and set up the server! It's by no means a finished product yet, but it's at least a start!
Here's the link: https://discord.gg/FqArkERU2U
About a year ago, I was running a pretty active, small community board game server and it was a lot of fun until most of the regulars got busy with life.
After that, things happened and it fell by the wayside, but my time here with Tildes makes me really want to bring it back, I just wanted to gauge interest first. The idea is that anyone could set events, anyone can invite people, etc. Obviously, it wouldn't be an open server, but one in the same vein as Tildes, but in board game community form.
Specifically, things like hidden role games and other more complicated games really feel like they shine when there's a solid group of regulars that are able to teach newbies how to play.
(And selfishly, this would be a great way for me to learn new board games, as well)
Joined! Not sure how much I'll be able to participate but it sounds fun.
If there are only certain times you want to/are able to play, you can create an event at that time and people can RSVP based on the games you want to play.
I'm trying to make it as approachable as possible, especially given multiple time zones and people with busy lives.

I've went ahead and started work on the server. Feel free to join! https://discord.gg/FqArkERU2U
I'd be interested in that sort of thing ā there's all sorts of games that I'd like to try out more, but don't really have the group for.
I just joined under the username Exilen! I probably won't be able to make it to many events, but I have a few days a month that I would enjoy playing board games on tabletop simulator or something.
Awesome! Yeah, when you have time you can let me know or set an event yourself in the Discord server!
Iām down for it!
I vaguely remember a similar post around last year but I did not remember to follow-up much. š
I'm always down for more board game servers to be in, I have a few with IRL friends or more long standing online friends but it's always fun to load up tabletop sim or whatever and there's certainly styles or genres of games that my existing groups aren't interested in. I'm just fairly busy do not sure how reliable I can be (with aforementioned friends and my own life(work/family)
Yeah, this is the main reason I made the post. Wanted to make sure there was enough interest so it was more than, like, four people that were wanting to join.
I can't promise reliability, but I'd be interested in giving it a go.
Always down for board games. I have a sub to blood on the clocktower online, so if anybody wants to play or learn it, it's free when I'm in the lobby for everybody else. Happy to run games if anybody is interested in social deduction games.
I'll join the Discord later, but I'm a fairly experienced Storyteller (I'm an OG backer of the game and have probably around 60 games ran under my belt and a large number of hours watching other games) and I'd consider restarting my subscription if we needed another one.
For anyone who doesn't know, Blood on the Clocktower is a social deduction game, like Werewolf/Mafia, but on steroids. Everyone has a unique role, and player elimination isn't as big of a thing as you continue participating even after you die (some of the roles even want to die early!). I highly recommend it.
Oh be still my beating goddamn heart.
I've always just used clocktower.online (because I have a really weird, unhealthy financial relationship with subscriptions), but am 100% down if we have enough people. The biggest hurdle is getting enough people, especially for that first time.
Oh for sure. I absolutely love it and after using it regularly it's hard to go back to the free option, even as well as that works. Maybe we can get enough people playing to run it regularly. I usually do the storytelling for my group, so I'm happy to teach people to play.
Yeah, I'm in the same boat, but with the free tier.
I love the idea of two storytellers to help onboard new people quicker. I bet 8 players and 2 storytellers in trouble brewing could get people into the game pretty damn fast.
If you want to fill a game of botc, post it on https://boardgameschedule.com/. That's where I check when I want to find an online game.
If Gloomhaven Digital is on the table (heh) I might consider joining!
