This one is gonna be a $10 upgrade if you already have the PS4 version, doesn't feel too egregious to me. Especially with the new roguelike mode they put in, $10 is what I pay for a lot of my roguelikes lol.

Your argument kind of proves my point at how good they are at soaking their fans for money. I'm not saying it's a bad thing. I love the games and the HBO series exploding I'm sure isn't hurting sales.

There was also a PS4 remaster in between. They're going a bit "Skyrim" with it, imo. But I do love that this go around they're giving existing players a steep discount.

Whoa. Roguelike mode? That sounds very interesting. Is it multiplayer? Could be like DayZ. Edit: Checked the video. Looks singleplayer.

I feel there significantly worse ways to get money out of consumers’ hands. Of all the things they can make this is one of the easiest to say “no” to if you already have the original game, and it also provides an easier in point for people who haven’t played the original without having them buy it plus whatever extras.

I think it's just a smart way to keep their brand's longevity alive.

A crazy successful HBO series isn't doing that already? But in all seriousness, I think this is the play any game company hopes to make. The HBO series made a ton of new fans, so obviously they want it to be easy to buy the first and second game on current gen consoles. Other game companies wish they were half as good at soaking their fans money in.

The Last of Us is one of my favorite series in the last 10 years (TLOU came out in 2013 lol). I last played TLOU II around when the pandemic was happening so it'll be good to run through it again.

And good news for existing owners of The Last of Us Part II on PlayStation 4! You will be able to upgrade to a digital version of The Last of Us Part II Remastered for $10 USD3 at launch.4 You’ll also be able to import your saves from the original game to Part II Remastered.

You're lucky you missed the controversy of the second game. The game was leaked and I think some vocal fans got upset about -major spoiler- that happens at the beginning of the game. (which in itself is already pretty dumb because it's a spoiler without any context of the rest of the game). Transphobes latched on to that negativity and amplified it for their own purposes too, because there were rumors that -character involved in major spoiler- was trans (which didn't even turn out to be true).

It's annoying because if there was any actual faults to the game (nothing too egregious that I can really think about tbh), some places it was hard to discuss them in good faith.

I honestly do think it was one of the best stories I've gone through, the cliche phrase of "art making you feel something" was really on full display. I can't name too many of the faults off the top of my head, there might have been some slow parts, so I wouldn't say it was perfect perfect, but it was pretty close and I'm looking forwards to playing it again.

I’ll be honest, I was one of those who were expecting to hate the game adter reading the leaks as it sounded really awful on paper (I kept it to myself, didn’t engage in fprums discussions etc)....

I’ll be honest, I was one of those who were expecting to hate the game adter reading the leaks as it sounded really awful on paper (I kept it to myself, didn’t engage in fprums discussions etc). But as I played the game I quickly realized that the execution of these leaked plot points were much better than I anticipated.

Granted I do have a few issues with the story in the end (such as the vaccine being confirmed to have been successful had Joel not intervened, I just don’t buy it and would prefer it was left ambigious as it was kn ghe first game), but the I still consider the game to be incredible overall.

Yeah, I always wonder how much of the people who still (even as I was leaving reddit lol) complain about the game have actually played it.

Probably a whole lot. Many on the thelastofus2 subreddit say that they haven’t ”and don’t need to” as a point of pride, it’s weird. It’s really odd how people make it their life mission to hate on...

It’s really odd how people make it their life mission to hate on something so unimportant rather than just move on, must be exhausting.
