Interesting... I have a ton of nostalgia for many of these but I'm really dubious about the ability of today's Sega to do any of them justice. Visually, the Jet Set Radio shown in this trailer looks about perfect, but that one's going to live or die on its soundtrack and panache, not graphics alone.
Crazy Taxi looks all kinds of wrong to me, I say as a huge fan of the originals. What's up with the police vehicles, sportscars, multiple taxis racing? And I know it's an early dev build but it looks like they're going with a weird low-fidelity cel shading effect that just makes it all look indistinct and crappy. The star of a good Crazy Taxi game is the city itself, but the trailer doesn't highlight that at all. I want to see a fun recreation of an iconic real-world city, with lots of routes through it to discover. And again, the soundtrack will be super important for this one.
Not sure how I feel about Golden Axe. I grew up playing the first one a ton but this looks like a pretty radical reimagining of it. For me the old-school '80s fantasy aesthetic is the soul of the game; if you stray too far from that it'll become something entirely different. But if you're too faithful to it, honestly it's not going to play well today. Seems like a difficult tightrope to walk. I still play the OG Golden Axe from time to time but I can't think of any improvements that would make me want to pick up a modern remake. The clips in the trailer didn't really do anything for me.
I was never a huge Streets of Rage fan but the clips here look okay to me. Not sure if modern gamers have any appetite for classic beat-em-up gameplay (same could be said for Golden Axe). And again if they change the formula too much they'll end up with a totally different kind of game. Maybe that could be a good thing, in this case? Not sure.
I've never played the Shinobi games but I really like the art style shown here. It has a lovely hand-animated aesthetic that reminds me of Okami. I might keep an eye on this one.
I'm a bit disappointed, if Sega's going back to the well of classic games, that none of these made an appearance:
Also: Bomb Rush Cyberfunk came out this year and was basically JSR3

Up until relatively recently Sega was making new Shining games fairly frequently, though only one release was a strategy game and the rest were action RPGs or traditional RPGs.
Sega also doesn't own the rights to Gunstar Heroes; that belongs to Treasure. They made a sequel for the GBA called Gunstar Super Heroes.
I didn't even recognise it from the trailer until the text showed up and I had to rewind. It doesn't look like Golden Axe. The biped mount (which isn't hot-pink!) with a dwarf on top is Golden...

Your entire post sums up my feelings. Shinobi is the only one that looks decent. The others are just SEGA slop that's going to be a "wait and see" thing.
Most of the games look pretty good. Now a random observation about marketing. This is a short video but over half of it is not showing the product. I always find this curious. Am I the only one...

I think it's that they're still early in development so there isn't much to show yet, and for franchises this old, building anticipation with easter eggs for the first half was the goal. Eating...

Eating the Gen X and Gen Y reaction videos was amazing. The crazy taxi license plate, the streets of rage t-shirt - it was all eye bait for old gamers who hadn't seen Sega take their non sonic IPs seriously for decades.
I know that the period from Dreamcast to Shadow the Hedgehog definitely looked like flailing, but since then I'd say that they've found their footing with that franchise. The games do well with...

I don't know what keeps them energized, but you're right, Sonic fans always show up when a new game is announced.
You might have heard of a project one guy was doing to fix all the bugs in Sonic '06. It was because he was a legitimate fan. There is no objective "good" in any art form. And in the case of Sonic...

There is no objective "good" in any art form. And in the case of Sonic I think that the appeal is a combination of the unique art as well as the extremely flexible metaverse-esque cannon that has resulted from decades of reimagining. In other words, it's got a huge potential to spark a person's imagination. I know that a lot of the fandom is full of "cringe", but honestly I think that it's part of the appeal; it just makes it seem more personalized and exclusive in ways that I find difficult to describe. Sonic Forces may have been a mediocre game to many, but the whole "play as your own sonic OC" gimmick made it really special to others.
I haven't had goosebumps in a while but there they are! Would love to see more single player Phantasy Star, but if Sega wants to pull the nostalgia cord, I'm all for it. They're about 15 years too...

No, I was very confused. Thought I was watching a trailer for a nostalgia-bait movie about games.
I think it's that they're still early in development so there isn't much to show yet, and for franchises this old, building anticipation with easter eggs for the first half was the goal.

You mean that was Sega taking Sonic seriously all these years‽ Good God, how does that franchise still have such rabid fans?

If nothing else, the music is always bangin'.
Jet Set Radio original creators involved with new game, Sega says
Can only hope that includes Hideki Naganuma.
So, I wouldn't normally post hype but I fucking love SEGA and I can't wait to see what they've got coming out.
I feel like losing the Dreamcast was like watching Atreyus horse die in the NeverEnding Story.
The saddest thing I ever dealt with in my young years.
I grew up with a Sega + Sega CD, so I'm also hype to see some of these. Golden Axe, Shinobi, Streets of Rage... I'm about it!
I haven't had goosebumps in a while but there they are!

Gimme Power Stone 3 already.
You’d have to ask Capcom for that.
