I should probably get around to playing the 3rd one.

Yeah, me too...with the cutscenes muted though, probably. I've been dreading it.

If you play on PC, they have a bundle on Steam that includes everything from the series (including the Tales games):

      https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/33369/Borderlands_Collection_Pandoras_Box/

If you don't own any of the items in the bundle, then I think its typical sale price is around $40?

I do not play on steam, but I’m sure I can find a cheap copy on mercari.

Wow. I'd been dreading the inevitable breakdown and spending more money to round out my borderlands collection. Mostly the missing dlcs for 3, but getting the rest of them and the pre sequel for $14 feels like a pretty good deal.

BL2 is the last Borderlands I finished. I don't know is it me growing up or the game has gone downhill since Tiny Tina's BL2 DLC (all the season pass DLC also noticably has lower polish). I didn't even finish TPS initially. BL3 feel like more of the same, but the new Sanctuary doesn't feel like home like how the floating city was. The gameplay feel like shoot everything and go to next area. Diablo 4 is more fun because they all die in a few hits and don't hide behind covers (or they do but your AoE kill them anyway.

I agree that BL2 was peak and it's where the vast majority of my time in the series is. Though I have a less harsh opinion of 3 than most people here apparently. The twins and main story are pretty bad, but a lot of the side quest charm was still there in 3. I also prefer the more fluid combat of 3 and wouldn't mind seeing a remaster of 1/2 with the movement and gunplay of 3 at some point. I totally get the hate for the writing, I just don't feel like it ruins the game as much as online threads make it seem.

BL3 was...ok. I enjoyed the gameplay and didn't hate the dialog as much as people seem to, but the story just sorta fell flat to me. Mostly I feel like it was a pacing issue. The plot moves from point to point so quickly that there really isn't any time for anything to carry any weight. Characters get introduced for a couple missions then get killed off before you get a chance to care about them, even though the game plays it up like they're supposed to be these gut-wrenching twists.

But the actual shooting and crazy guns and such were a blast.
