No native Linux titles, but every SINGLE one is playable on Deck and has good ProtonDB reviews. Proton continues to amaze me.

    • Ultros: a psychedelic metroidvania that caught my eye in a showcase last year.
    • Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew: I remember hearing some good reviews. If I recall correctly kind of a xcomish tactics thing?
    • The Thaumaturge: I think the trailer just looked neat. Don't remember hearing much about it.

The company that made it, Mimimi Games (rest in peace) also made Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun and Desperados III which are in the same genre and also excellent.

I think I would be more interested in The Thaumaturge if it were an adventure game, to be honest. It has some interesting storytelling conventions, but the combat seems kind of dull from the trailer (which is probably why they didn't show much of it), and skill trees in general just kind of leave me feeling like "oh, this again."

Thaumaturge caught my attention for the name (I'm a sucker for arcane terminology) and having what looks kind of like a steampunk-adjacent aesthetic (looks like Victorian technology but without the clockwork/brass touches). I think I'll give it a shot, but also hope the combat is not disruptive.

Aside: one of my favorite games growing up was Arcanum, which left me with a gaping desire for more immersive steampunk RPGs. Bioshock was a good scratch for the itch, but I am still wishing for something more immersive and less action-oriented. I really want to slow-crawl through a text- and detail-heavy steampunk world.

Are there any titles I should check out?

I actually had an IGN Plus subscription for a year somewhat recently. There was a great Black Friday deal one year (I think it was like $8 for a year or something?), and they occasionally give away Steam keys, so I took the plunge. I do NOT recommend signing up for this if it interests you. The stock is usually pretty limited and goes fast, especially for the higher interest games. There were times that, by the time I got the email letting me know a new game was available, it was already out of stock.

I did get a few games out of it (including Lil Gator Game which was great), so I feel like I came out on top, but I decided not to renew at cost.

One thing it either didn't have when I used it or I simply never realized it was there is their interactive maps. These are actually pretty cool to me and would be super useful in some games, especially big open world games with lots of questing/collectibles. That said, I don't play enough of those to justify the cost, but it might be worth it for people who do.
