You posted a link to a 73-minute video with an extremely vague title and a very short response. Care to give a bit of information that may motivate someone to at least skim part of the text version?

It is about the growing (and growing, and growing) erosion of civil liberties borne by corruption and government-effected surveillance and totalitarianism; what caused it (and how), what the societal implications are, and what to do next. Alongside related issues that come out of the same perverse incentive structure, like climate change and deliberate destabilisation of less powerful countries.

    Kagi Summary of text version:

    Kagi Summary of text version:

The passage discusses how governments have used threats like terrorism to justify increased surveillance and police state-like controls over citizens. It argues this trend will continue as technologies enable more invasive monitoring and as future crises emerge. While some freedoms have already been lost, the author maintains that groups should work to build tools that preserve privacy, anonymity and secure communication. However, increased surveillance may become normalized over time, with DNA identification and mandatory address reporting also possible future outcomes according to one commenter's prediction.

They are somewhat more optimistic than I was when I brought up some of the attendant issues here a couple of years ago, but realistically so—aiming for incremental change and long time horizons. That is the way to do it.

Added a portion of the video description to the title to help clear up the confusion people seem to be having about it.

Yeah, I breezed over the text version and had the same impression. It strikes me as someone hiding in a bunker somewhere breathing heavily and waiting for SkyNet to take over.
