Wait....does this mean if you're new to Canada, regardless of what country you moved from, some jobs won't even consider you unless you already had experience working for another job in Canada?

The opposite. Employers can't require Canadian job experience

Ontario Labour Minister David Piccini says the provincial government plans to ban employers from requiring Canadian work experience in job postings or application forms to help newcomers get their foot in the door.

Probably, but like any such initiatives it's a step in the right direction.

Absolutely. I hope it has it's intended effect to some degree, I'm just skeptical. Interested to see how this will play out.

Over the past few weeks, there has been a tremendous increase in Canadian companies and recruiters approaching me for programming jobs (WFH), and I'm not even based in that country. Something seems to be churning up there, probably labor is in short supply and isn't catching up to their fast growing infrastructure.

There is definitely a global tech pull into Canada going on. I know of several people now who have been spoken to regarding working in Canada - sometimes even emigrating - and the government apparently gives grants to new Canadian businesses that bring in a certain amount of sales.
