I am so mad at myself for removing Ostlund in Director from my predictions and also Paul Mescal in Lead Actor. I had those two for a really long time but chickened out last minute. Would have gone 5/5 in those two categories had it not been for that.

Anyways here are the picture nominees:

“All Quiet on the Western Front” (Netflix)

“Avatar: The Way of Water” (20th Century Studios)

“The Banshees of Inisherin” (Searchlight Pictures)

    “Elvis” (Warner Bros.)

“Everything Everywhere All at Once” (A24)

    “The Fabelmans” (Universal Pictures)

    “Tár” (Focus Features)

    “Top Gun: Maverick” (Paramount Pictures)

    “Triangle of Sadness” (Neon)

    “Women Talking” (MGM/United Artists Releasing)

And for those of you wondering what are the top 5 this year that would be: EEAAO, The Banshees of Inisherin, Tar, Top Gun: Maverick, and The Fabelmans.

I think these are the best Best Picture nominations in a while. Save Triangle of Sadness, all the movies on there are at least pretty good imo.

I still think 2020 (Parasite, 1917, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) is unmatched. That said I probably preferred the BP nominees from 2021 (Nomadland) compared to this year.

I hated Nomadland and Mank and disliked Promising Young Woman and Trial of the Chicago 7 so last year's were pretty meh to me.

Last year I probably also preferred. West Side Story is better than all the nominees this year imo, and I liked the ones generally considered weak like Don’t Look Up and King Richard. Even my least favorite nom of last year (CODA) I liked better than my least favorite of this year (Triangle).

Triangle of Sadness is so good but has no business being up for best picture. There is one scene that... well, its just a highlight for the year. Everybody should watch this, however.
