I want to talk about Bill and Ted Face the Music
I watched it tonight and it is so much better than it has any right to be. I think they really captured what made the originals good: the humor between Bill and Ted, the way that they genuinely care about each other and the other people they pick up along the way, and the bit of over-the-top-ness in what they play and how they play that appealed to me as a 16-year-old metalhead when I first watched them.
The scene where Hendrix impresses Mozart enough to come outside and see what he's playing/how he knows the song was the essence of the entire series in a single scene in my opinion. Mozart comes out and doesn't say "who the hell are these people?" (at least I don't think so, I don't understand enough German to really say), he is just in awe and is happy to share that moment and that music with Hendrix. The way people come together to do things just warms my heart in a way that's really needed this year.
I'm super excited to see this movie, and I'm very grateful to everyone in this thread for spoiler-tagging their comments <3
The original movies were such a huge part of my late-teenage/early-adult years and I was really worried they'd mess up the third movie but I watched it yesterday and it was so well done. Just the right level of self-awareness, which is a really tricky thing to get right. It was silly without being ridiculous, touching without being cheesy and even still managed to rock out pretty well.
My favourite part
Was the post-credits scene in the nursing home. All that time, all those adventures together and at the end Bill and Ted still love each other so much. The older I get the more I notice how much, and how unafraid they are to tell each other and that's one of the things I like about them as characters. Are they the greatest best friends in all of movies? They're certainly up there.
Second favourite part: the Fat Ted reveal in Dave Grohl's house, and the buckethead escape plan.
Also fwiw I'm pretty sure they had to make Keanu up to look that old because he basically still looks 21 in real life.
Like everyone else so far, I think they really nailed it. It has the heart and feeling of the first two.
It had some genuinely laugh out loud funny moments but my favorite was the buckets on the head.
I also really liked that they didn’t have some artificial reason for them to “break up” or fight in the middle of the movie. They’re together the whole time.
I’d say Bogus Journey is still my favorite but I had a great time with Face the Music.
I loved it. The original movies hold a special place among a small group of friends, in particular because in the last few years we listened to The Film Reroll of the first movie. Which if you haven't listened to, please do, it is amazing. The two improv actors absolutely nailed Bill and Ted's mannerisms, and the alternative plot and ending are absolutely epic. In another timeline, that ending was actually in the third movie.

The tribute to Rufus/George Carlin at the beginning made me smile. The pocket watch with the inscription was a hilarious 4th wall moment that let the audience know exactly how seriously this movie viewed itself.I also immensely enjoyed the credit sequence with the hundreds of (they appeared real?) people all rocking out together, exemplifying that what we all really need in this insane pandemic time, is to remember the things that bring us together. Like music, and this silly, rediculous movie.
It's an excellent film all around. There were some moments where they could've dropped the ball or messed it up, but they didn't.
HUGE SPOILER DO NOT EXPAND ME OH GOD
I knew there was going to be a Pass The Torch moment between Bill & Ted and their daughters, and there are a ton of ways to do that badly. But they way they did it--having Bill & Ted still play the final song even after they'd passed the torch--was great. My roommate told me that the song they play is a remix of a song from the first movie, which explains why it sounded so "Bill & Ted" to me.
That's interesting, I'm gonna have to go back and compare.
Red Letter Media released a Half in the Bag episode on the new Bill & Ted for those interested:

The spoilers don't begin until about half-way through, and they give plenty of warnings beforehand.
Saw it this weekend, and this was honestly everything I wanted out of the Disney Star Wars films.
