What have you been listening to this week? You don't need to do a 6000 word review if you don't want to, but please write something! If you've just picked up some music, please update on that as well, we'd love to see your hauls :)
Feel free to give recs or discuss anything about each others' listening habits.

Olivia Rodrigo's new album GUTS is out, it's pretty incredible. I haven't gotten through the whole thing yet and I wasn't super sold on "bad idea right?" but the rest of the album I'm really enjoying! A really good mix of pop ballads and her more traditional pop songs. It's pretty crazy how well she's been doing considering her age.
CHVRCHES also released a new song today celebrating their 10th anniversary of their debut album. I love the return to their old sound, with the addition of some interesting experimental sounds.
I've been trying to do listen through's of Bruno Major's latest album to get prepared for his concert soon too! I'm excited to see him live again, last time was pre-covid.
Lots of rock this week, some favorites in no particular order and with a few examples songs each:
Dayseeker
neon graves, sleeptalk, crying while you're dancing
Spiritbox
blessed be, rule of nines (one take version is very good), constance, holy roller
Against the Current
weapon, good guy
Lots and lots of Lauren Babic, mostly her covers but she has great original music as well
covers: so many but my current favorite is periphery's satellites, her flyleaf covers are great, the collabs she did with halocene and violet orlandi are all amazing (SOAD, Linkin park, etc)
Originals:
from her band red handed denial: empire, father said, trespasser, rose
Collab with halocene: when demons come to life
Been listening to a lot of rock this week as well. Pretty much only Royal Blood and Nothing But Thieves.
Songs I’ve had basically on repeat are:
Jeff Rosenstock's HELLMODE on repeat, more or less.
Went on a George Duke kick for a few days, then some Guy Clark, but for new stuff: HELLMODE
Finally got around to listening to Esperanza Spalding, so far have heard her first 2 albums as well as Emily's D+Evolution. I'm normally not the biggest fan of jazz vocalists, but really loving her stuff so far. Very excited to explore the rest of her discography, seems like someone who's capable of making a huge variety of sounds.
Been listening to NTS Radio and Searows - Guard Dog. NTS has all the strange music I desire and Searows is just pleasant acoustic melancholy.
I'm a big fan of my Nightmares on Wax station on Pandora for downtempo, lo-fi, acid jazz, vocal-less hip hop, etc. I'm sure you could use Spotify starting out with that artist, or whatever your poison is, but it's great background music for me, especially if I need to have something on in the background while working or reading that doesn't distract me.
That’s a very similar vibe to what I like to listen to while working. Love Nightmares on Wax!
NTS Radio is fantastic, it's probably the one I listen to the most. I've discovered a lot of music through online radios, let me also recommend
Holy shit -- thank you for all the recommendations! Will check them out.
Been on a bit of an electric wizard binge this week. Then just giving some new releases a listen like new angel du$t and new dying fetus.
New dying fetus? I gotta check that out.... I saw them live last year it was a blast!
It's actually really good. Iv not been massively into their recent output but this album is a lot more groovy.
Bunch of full mixes from Ixo on YouTube. Started with this female vocal drum and bass mix (https://youtu.be/hLXZ2RbGO1g?si=pfwXkbfSYbyIemZO), which I really enjoyed for the track selection, so have been checking out the rest while driving around. The mixing isn't anything to write home about, be it technique or creativity, but the song selection I've enjoyed so far.
Also, the Sirius punk rock station (314) for when I'm too lazy to mess around with YouTube while driving.
And finally, when cooking or doing other things around the place, typically throw on raw comedy radio on Pandora.
Hozier's newest album Unreal Unearth has been what I've been looping through mainly these past couple weeks,
Damage Gets Done is probably my favorite track on this album, recommend the listen!
