Hundreds of millions are dying of heart disease and diabetes because the majority of "food" in our stores is full of sugar, salt and/or fat - all used because it's ADDICTING and cheaper than proper seasoning, but lets go after the THC that harms very few people. <_<
Got to love our government's priorities that clearly don't care about people be they the Reds or the Blues.
What's unfortunate is that RFK Jr occasionally makes noises about unhealthy processed food but then says wacky things like "eat more beef tallow" and "tylenol causes autism" so it's not very helpful.

Also sugar and fat are two of the three macro nutrients and salt is required for us to live. We can't live on proteins turned amino acids alone.
If even the nonintoxicating ones are over the threshold, it means they're banning the intoxicating ones. Just ban the synthetics (Delta 8) and require ID. Problem solved. [Edited: Purged...
According to the U.S. Hemp Roundtable, the vast majority of hemp products on the marketplace surpass the 0.4 milligram threshold, even the nonintoxicating ones.

Yeah they're banning the intoxicating ones like Delta 8, cannabis is still, as it has been, federally illegal and they failed to regulate hemp products after the 2018 Farm Bill. I'm not saying...

I'm not saying that this was the best way to do it, but the Delta8 shit has been a problem for a while now. You can still go get the (state) legal cannabis.
Stores sell a wide variety of food items, alcohol would be the only one I'd compare with hemp products with "intoxicating levels" of THC in them.
Bodies can make and store fat from any macro nutrient. I'll stick with a dietician on the food advice. I'm happy to hear you've found the precise cause of diabetes though. Please share it with the medical community.
If the levels are too low, because the administration sucks and the president is a prick who's probably trying to punish one of his current enemies, that's a valid complaint. Much like Spice and K2 I'm thrilled to see Delta 8 off the shelves where it was sitting unregulated and accessible to anyone.
Thanks for clarifying, sounds like Oregon's ban on synthetics back in 2021 with a few more rules due to cannabis being illegal federally. Except, there's an annoying child with too much power...

Thanks for clarifying, sounds like Oregon's ban on synthetics back in 2021 with a few more rules due to cannabis being illegal federally. Except, there's an annoying child with too much power interfering... I hate it when I remember it's only been 11 months and there's 37 to go.

I think the bigger issue that they were trying to draw attention to was your throwing out health claims that you yourself admit you don't have more than a bare minimum surface-level understanding of (re: diabetes) after being called out on an attempt to equate selling food that contains nutrients we need to live with selling unregulated synthetic cannabinoids.
Frankly, I'm already sick enough of how some people on Tildes constantly parrot claims about diet and nutrition unsolicited in threads about completely different topics, since I find that type of discussion triggers disordered eating and similar negative thought spirals (which, ftr, don't help me eat more healthy or even lose weight, in case people want to justify it on that basis), but I can only block tags that relate to the topic, not comments in threads on a topic that is more or less completely unrelated to dieting or obesity. On reddit I unsubbed from some subreddits because they had a tendency to constantly talk about obesity in the comments of even barely-related posts, but since the culture here on Tildes isn't really different across groups in the same way, that doesn't work as a tactic, and it's not possible to block any particular other user who does it often here either.
You received no "short explanation" of this, because that isn't what I said. Nor is the word "excess" or "overeating" in your initial post. It is unrealistic to expect a response based on what...
but so far I've only seen what appear to be claims that eating as much salt, fat and sugar as you want is healthy because they're essential,

It is good you understand the actual topic of the article better regardless of your concerns with my tone. I'm glad I was helpful. My tone will remain as it is.
I don't feel like going into details and my initial response was in fact a "short" note stating what was wrong with your initial comment. You chose to continue down a road of ever widening topics of diet and disease that I believe is outside your scope of expertise.
I am not replying further because I continue to have zero interest in advice from a non-dietician, or medical advice or information from a non-doctor. For example, you claimed to know the cause of diabetes and then admitted you have only heard an "imprecise cause" explained to someone else by a doctor. The issue in this subthread is not, in my opinion, the pleasantness of my responses.
I'm not so sure the WHO has the best information on salt consumption. When coupled with increased potassium, increased sodium seems to reduce cardiovascular mortality....
They do have the best advice if you have one, but wouldn't a dietician say salt, sugar and fat (saturated/trans fat) is bad for you when eaten in excess? The World Health Organization does and this kind of info is all over from sources that seem legit.

Still feel the need to explain, but that's a good idea, this is all spiraling too much.

Come to Canada! It's legal here and nobody's smoking it for some reason.
Honestly this is least of the reasons I'd rather live in Canada right now, but heck yeah!
Legal in California and everyone’s smoking it!
Typical, he undoes the one good thing he accidentally did during his last presidency.
I’m sure he’s already rewriting history to blame the farm bill on Obama or Biden.
