For those of you not following the NBA too closely you might not be aware but tonight the Magic play the Heat. For about the past month or so the two teams have been battling out for the final seed in the Eastern Conference Playoffs. I'll re-cap why this is so important for the Magic since they're the team I support and maybe some Heat fans can hit back with a reply for why it's so important to them.
In the 2011-2012 season the Magic entered a dark period called the "Dwightmare" where their best player who had led them to an NBA final Dwight Howard began stirring up drama within the organisation. Dwight was traded in the offseason to the Lakers giving serious deja vu of Shaq's time in Orlando. Since 2012 the Magic have consistently been cursed to mediocrity and missing the playoffs.
Magic star Nikola Vucevic (a player acquired from the Dwight trade) has been constantly underrated and disrespected by people around the NBA. After 7 seasons Vuc has finally made the All Star team and has led this team to exceed the expectations set at the beginning of the season. It is also important to note that Vuc has not made the playoffs either since 2012 when he was playing with the 76ers.
The Magic are 0.5 games behind the Heat, whoever wins this match will take the 8th seed from the other and likely bring a lot of motivation and momentum into their next games therefore being more likely to make the playoffs.
There's many more storylines to this match than I've put in here but I feel that this gets the main gist of why it's so important to fans of the Magic.

I'm excited to see my Timbers play again! I went to the Cup in December, and even though we lost, it was a great time. Who do you support?
It's the bottom of the 9th. Bases are loaded, and the home team's cleanup batter hits a home run. What is the final score? Does the game end immediately at 1-0 when the first runner crosses the plate, or is it 4-0 with all runners allowed to score?
Follow up to this thread. This is a last ditch effort to get a league together in the next 48 hours. Comment or PM me if you’re interested! We need a couple more.
Any Fantasy Football players on Tildes? Post your team here with your league rules and let's rate and discuss each other's teams!
Side thought: Are there enough NFL fans here to warrant a Tildes league? That might be fun. There's enough time to draft before the season starts if enough people are interested.
Wondering who your guys favorite teams are and what sport their from.
I'm a American football official and was wondering if there were any other officials on Tildes.
What sport(s) do you officiate? Why do you officiate? Why do you think officiating is declining? What's something you'd change to improve the experience?
I'll chime in after the discussion gets started! Look forward to having some quality discussion!
Urgh, this is not amazing cricket so far. There's been some good play in parts but overall it feels fairly scrappy from both sides. How many catches have the English slips dropped so far? (mind you, the Indians dropped a few this afternoon too)
My cricket coach at school was a delightfully gnarly old Yorkshire dude who would repeatedly drill into us "catches win matches lads, catches win matches" before making us do more catching drills.
I feel like I've been defending Cooke's performance for too many years now, I can't believe we don't have someone else who can open the batting reliably. He doesn't need to hit out, just stay in. On the plus side, Sam Curran seems to be finding his feet. He's only 20 but I feel like he could go far. He might have saved this match for England today.
OK, so I started writing this post while watching the highlights, just as England's second innings finished and now, just a few minutes later India are down five wickets, 84 needed to win, and England's bowling attack are on fire. It's all got very interesting all of a sudden.
Non-cricket fans - the Test format is the one you guys generally seem to particularly baffling/frustrating. It's a five day match where nothing can happen for hours on end, and the game can end with no winner.
UFC 226 main event last night was a blast. Any other MMA fanatics here?
I think Kerber and Keys are my favorites to reach the final on the women's side, and Federer and Del Potro are my favorites on the men's side.
Who are you rooting for? Who do you hope to see knocked out? After a rather unpredictable two matchdays anything can happen.
Personally I'd put my money on Germany despite their weak performance until now. But I'm also hoping see an underdog team make it to the finals.

The community here on Tildes is very small just like the Squash playing community. Wanted to see if there is any overlap. So anyway where are you from? How regularly do you play? What's you skill level? What's your main motivation behind playing squash? Favourite player?
I'll start.
I support England even though I am not from there because I follow the EPL and most of my football news comes from England. So I feel an affinity towards them. I'll be happy if they reach the quarters.
Fairly boring race. I hate to say the early flag was the most interesting part other than Verstappen's almost making it a race portion. Any other F1 fans out there? Thoughts on the race?
Why yes, I am American, and yes, I do care about soccer once every four years. But I do want to give this an honest go, so: what’s got you amped up about the World Cup this year?
I believe that France has the best chance to take the whole thing away. However teams like Spain and Brazil can also easily put up a show. It would be interesting to see as there are no clear favourites in this World cup.
I started gambling on sports at the start of the 2016 NFL season. Using a popular offshore site that takes bitcoin for wagers, I managed to get around the stringent US laws against sports betting. I got very lucky early on, and I thought I had a knack for picking teams. Obviously, that luck doesn't last forever (a tale as old as time) and now I have to watch games for "fun" instead of relying on the outcome to make money.
I still throw money on playoff games from time to time. That said, there really isn't a thrill like watching a fuzzy stream of two high school football teams halfway across the country, hoping for a safety to cover the spread. Anyone know what I'm talking about? Or does anyone have an edge on the BIG3 summer league they wanna share?
Hello fellow tildetesters,
I was just wondering how many racing fans we have onboard already. I saw a couple of F1 posts, and that's good, but I was wondering if there are more fans and different interests.
Mine are F1, MotoGP, Endurance (WEC and IMSA - and Le Mans is coming soon), so I was hoping to find some links minded people around here.
Cheers
