What are you working on right now?

A project? A personal goal? A big assignment? A new hobby? Your mental health? A 1000 piece puzzle? A relationship?

Whatever it is you’re working on, tell us about it. How’s it going so far?

I just delivered my best work project ever. Feels like defeating a boss level.

Personal Project - getting our finished basement in order. When we moved, a lot of kid toys and stuff just ended up being put in boxes and it is strewn around the basement. We have a fair amount of storage, and I've been slowly sorting what we have and figuring out where to put things. It has been a long and arduous process. This also includes my own office, which is still in full on nightmare mode. I want to finish sorting everything out and put a small kitchenette into my office; a place for a small fridge and a sink so I can have coffee down here.

Too many things. I'm trying to plan my kid's first Big Boy Bed, which will be built into his bedroom. The problem is that while I was doing initial measurements I found some Unexpected Pipes which I can't find either end of and might contain pressurised water. In which case I really don't want to cut them. But I also want to remove them. Then I got distracted by trying to rough-cost a loft conversion after tracing one of the pipes up there and realising it's actually a pretty nice space and with a couple of roof windows would be a great extra room for us. Also I haven't done any big building projects for ages and I'm getting the itch again.

I'm also trying to build up some stock of a new knife design to sell, but my workshop is currently unheated for various reasons I won't go into and on a good day this week has been a toasty 1C (often less!), which is way too cold to do much, least of all precision/detail work. Honestly, I should just write January off for getting any actual work done. Nobody orders anything post-Christmas and I would be better off just catching up on design work and deep cleaning my workshop and so on. Or at the very least sticking to blacksmithing stuff which means I can have the forge burning and warm the place up!

All of the graphics for a massive fund raising event. So many last minute changes and looming deadlines. But it will all be worth it when the student scholarships are funded.

Heads down programming. Such is my life. I'm getting to the dogfooding stage of one decently sized project, which is kind of exciting and motivating. By that I mean I'm forbidding myself from using other, better, existing ways of doing the thing I want, and I must use my own project instead. Feels like taking off training wheels.

Not quite at the stage where I want to talk details, but hopefully I'll make a debut on Tildes this year!
