I'm a Registration Officer for the upcoming Canadian Election on Monday, I'm studying the material I need to know for that; also working two eight hour shifts at my normal retail job! I'm going to be busy. Also hunting for my AirPods case which has inexplicably disappeared.

Tonight I'm headed to a gfs house to do some hallucinogens. Apparently she's set up some kind of a cave? I dunno but it sounds exciting. We're probably just going to end up spending the majority of the trip playing with each other, as usual, but I'm excited to see her again.

The next day I'm driving that gf to go see her gf, then dropping by another gfs place to get ready for a halloween party. Oh, and I have a birthday present to give her! At some point her gf will be showing up and we'll drive around an hour up to the halloween party. I'll be spending the night up there.

Sunday we'll be heading back. Might spend some more time with the 2nd gf but I'm not entirely certain at this point whether I want to take some time for myself. I haven't had a chance to play my switch in over a week lol.

My mom's home from the hospital; we had to call for an ambulance a few days ago when her pain become too much. She's on oxygen and has an open wound on her backside that we're treating. The nurses actually told us she had a bladder infection and was in the early stages of pneumonia when she first arrived at the hospital. They said we were lucky, a few more days and it could've been much worse.

I was SOOOOOO anxious the last two weeks because she was bedbound and my father and I didn't have much help (aside from my older brother who was only here for a couple of days). Now, we're finally having a physical therapist come tomorrow and a nurse will be coming on Monday.

I want her to regain as much of her health and strength as possible so she can continue her cancer treatments. My mom's already missed her final radiation appointment because of her hospital stay AND she still has not been able to start her second round of chemo.

I could also really use a hug right now.

It's not going to be as good as a hug, but this Internet stranger wishes you well in these trying times. Stay strong.

Yesterday, I attempted to make soup dumplings, after an extremely successful and delicious attempt at making pan fried pork bao. I'm getting better at dumpling forming (getting neat pleats is rough). But my soup dumplings turned out to be quite bad. I think I used a bad dough recipe, and I didn't wait long enough for the gluten to relax after making the dough—I gave it an hour, but should have given it two, because I could tell it was still tense. I also rolled the wrappers too thin—they absolutely disintegrated while steaming, so when i went to pick them up they stuck to the cabbage in the steaming basket and got mushy. Lots to improve on.

Today, I'm playing more indie games for my games website, the missing quests, which continues to be quite a personally fulfilling learning experience—I'm playing so many more games that I wouldn't have normally picked up, and also I'm learning a lot about the secret unspoken wizardry of serving up online content (SEO, building an audience, etc.). Starting this website is easily one of my best creative experiences this year, in terms of personal challenge and development. It feels good to be actually doing something, rather than just dreaming of doing something.

Been working on Intergrid for a week now. Finished almost everything I could without upgrading the data structure backing the whole thing. Need to make the pseudo-nodes holding separate data into actual nodes that can link to each other in child-parent relationships. Right now, what I have is kinda linked-list-ish: objects holding data for content and parent.

If I can figure this out, I'll do that. If not, I'll put it off for a few days and write down the information on Frontiers. Or scavenge Disco Elysium for mental resources. The game looks hella fun, and its RPG system has some of the most interesting stats I've seen.

Staying inside as much as possible to avoid this depressing weather. In West Central Florida, and it is a pretty cool weekend alongside this tropical storm dumping lots of rain that just makes everything grey and cold and depressing.

Slightly worried about parts of my county if we get too much rain, parts still have rather large lakes of rainwater that hasn't drained yet from some bad rain storms we had a couple weeks back. Last thing we really need is a couple more inches of rain.

Yesterday I played a ton of OpenRCT2. I ended up playing three maps in a row (Infernal Views, Gravity Gardens, and Extreme Heights) that either strongly encourage or outright force you to build only rollercoasters and no small flat rides, and I'm a little burnt out on the game from it. Finding space in your park for a new rollercoaster is a chore, and the constant screaming from people rolling down the tracks in a park overloaded with coasters is kind of maddening.

Today I switched gears and finally finished this thing. Me and a friend worked on it for a few hours every week starting in March, then about halfway through we took a break from it so it's been sitting half-finished on my table for several months. I finally got some motivation to build a big chunk of it a couple weeks ago but stopped when I got to the step where you build the cockpit because I knew my friend was looking forward to that part. Watched him build the cockpit last wednesday, finished the last few steps today. Feels great to finally have it all put together and in its coffee table display case.
