What did you do this weekend?
As part of a weekly series, these topics are a place for users to casually discuss the things they did — or didn't do — during their weekend. Did you make any plans? Take a trip? Do nothing at all? Tell us about it!
I'm sorry about your loss. Losing a friend is never easy :(
I'm sorry for your loss, HT... But now he's crossed the rainbow bridge and is living an exciting new life with animal friends! You clearly loved your cat, and I am sure that he loved you too. You did what you had to do for him, and now his pain is gone. I'm trying not to cry at work now lol
Take care of yourself <3
That guy I met on Tinder two weeks ago? Gosh. We’re already planning a few things together and it looks like I’ll be flying up to meet him within another couple of weeks. I’m smitten.
Update: flights booked 🙃
Fly safe, you smitten kitten!
Thank you!! Can’t wait.
I moved with my SO ⁽⁽◝( ˙ ꒳ ˙ )◜⁾⁾
It was a lot of work but we started moving on Friday and then on Saturday we finished up moving everything. Right now we have the kitchen unpacked and most of the living room. Part of it is we also need more furniture, like an entertainment stand or more book cases for the rest of my books, and other miscellaneous stuff so it'll be a bit before we get our apartment to 90% how we want it to look but for now, we did it and it's neat to be able to live together lol.
Woo! Congratulations on the move! (It’s all fun and games until you actually realise how much crap you have that needs shifting!)
Thank you!! And yes omg, there's just so much stuff! I was able to go through all of my stuff and in part get rid of bunch of stuff I didn't need/no longer wanted but even then there's still so much! My SO and I were talking and I mentioned how we'll have to go through everything again as we unpack it and designate things to donate/recycle/throw out because moving is nuts!
Congrats eve! Definitely satisfying living with your partner haha
Yes it is!! It's so incredibly nice, we now have our own space to do as we please with. It's very satisfying to have gotten here 💕
That's super exciting! I remember how happy I was when I moved states to be with my girlfriend. How exciting it was to go to the store to buy our first furniture, go grocery shopping for the first time.
I think moving states, better yet regions, to an unfamiliar place is a trial that everyone should experience at least once in their life. When I turned 18, I moved with a friend to the opposite end of the state, away from my family and friends to start a new life. It was terrifying, it was lonely, it was rough. But I learned so much about myself and the world.
It blows my mind the amount of people who are OK with living where they grew up. I know way too many people who have never even left their hometown!
While I've been living away from home for over 10 years now, a huge part of me would love to move back.
Small town/small city living has it's advantages.
Spent most of the weekend preparing a two-page handout that I'll be giving out at a drum clinic that I'm teaching tonight. I have never done anything like this and I am EXTREMELY NERVOUS about it.
edit: clinic went great! Phew!
Congrats! Glad it all worked out. It sounds like you put a good deal of thought into it
I went snowshoeing in Lake Tahoe. Living in Reno has really forced me to be more outdoorsy, there is truly an overabundance of gorgeous nature only 20 minutes drive from where I live. While the city itself might not be my favorite, living so close to Tahoe is lovely.
I'd never been snowshoeing before moving here years ago, and now it's definitely one of my favorite activities. There is something so exhilarating about walking on top of fresh snow, completely silent while you marvel at the pine trees and breathe the fresh mountain air.
On Saturday I invested a lot of my time playing Pokemon Go. I ended up biking 20 miles on Saturday and staying outside for 3 hours. It almost felt like being a kid again!
Saturday night I spent a good portion of my time hacking my 3DS. I have been playing a Pokemon romhack called Renegade Platinum and I just had to move it over to my 3DS because DS games are terrible on mobile devices. I have a good set up now with an FTP server that can update files on my 3DS so I will probably spend the next week playing around with it, trying different games. Apparently some PSX games run at full speed on it so I might give that whirl just for the novelty.
Sunday it was incredibly windy where I live so my outdoor activity was limited. I went to a downtown area near where I live to play pokemon go. When I got home I joined a local Pokemon Go discord and did a raid with a bunch of locals. I went ahead and decided to bike on the less trodden paths around my apartment and managed to get in 7.5 miles.
Downloaded the app called Meallime and used it to plan my weeks worth of groceries. Its pretty awesome, you put in the recipes you think you will like and it generates your grocery list for you with the amount that you need of each ingredient. Making a grocery list for 7 days worth of meals is the hardest part of grocery shopping for me so this app is awesome.
Overall, pretty productive weekend!
Got sick on Wednesday so I had to cancel all of my plans. 2cb finally came in so I ended up doing that on Saturday and wow, it really is just as fantastic as I remembered it.
I'm hoping I'll be fully recovered by valentines day because I have an awesome queer rave planned and I will medicate the fuck out of myself and wear a rave mask if I have to, but I'd prefer to not!
Why didn't they do all of them at the same time?
Hah, very true. I looked like a cartoon character after having all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed, my whole lower half of my face was like I swollen* a baseball. It was pretty terrible, and they didn't give me any painkillers.
**edited for spelling
On Saturday, I spent the day with my partner. We just relaxed, watched TV, had some eats. Stayed til around Sunday at noon, where she went to hang out with her friend who just moved out of the city (was here for a wedding), and I went home and decided to start working on a new video game. The board game is on a slight hold as I don't have the physical space to begin working on a proto-game board.
I had to abandon my car at work on Friday and get a drive from a coworker with a beefier car because the roads were so bad. So on the weekend I shoveled snow, my SO drove me to my car, we shoveled that out, and then it snowed again on Sunday so I shoveled more snow.
In between I at least had a little bit of time to play some games, but I think I re-injured my wrist (which had been 99% healed! Argh!) dealing with the snow. I cannot wait for winter to end.
Got done with a month of military training on Saturday. Worked harder than I think I have in years, 100+ hour work weeks for a month straight. I relaxed on Sunday by taking a bath and smoking a cigar (I normally never smoke inside the house). I think smoking a cigar in a bath while watching youtube is just about one of the most relaxing things a human being can do, and it was really a great time.
Amen. Back when I still smoked, doing similar to that but in my hot tub was one of my absolute favorite things ever too. Cigar + cocktail or beers + hot tub + music = most relaxed I have ever been. I miss having a hot tub (and smoking too, if I'm honest)... but c'est la vie. :(
