Are you serious? I just downloaded Telegram to use solely for push notifications from my server, not for people, but I'm inclined to find a different way if they're going to force that Grok BS...
Are you serious? I just downloaded Telegram to use solely for push notifications from my server, not for people, but I'm inclined to find a different way if they're going to force that Grok BS into it. I'm constantly staggered that people whom I otherwise like and respect stay on twitter and just shrug that "oh but everyone is on it" when it's run by a man so openly and strongly hostile to their professed positions on several subjects. It would be one thing if he was sort of hands-off, bad enough, but I'd understand it more. But he runs it as his personal hype machine and opinion dissemination tool. I find it maddening that the site still has so many European institutional accounts given his opinions about so many Euro institutions.

I hope the https://nfty.sh recommendation by Toric works for you. I'm also looking into SimpleX Chat for contacts who don't want to pay for Threema.
It's UK-based, though. So you have to weigh up the privacy credentials it has (which I think are excellent) against the leanings of that government.

Russia's state communications watchdog said earlier in the day that the popular messaging app would face further restrictions from authorities because it failed to correct previous violations.
Then on Wednesday, a Russian court fined the messaging app around 11 million rubles (€119,500, $142,400) for refusing to remove banned content authorities regard as extremist, according to the state-run RIA Novosti.
Users reported slow traffic and lagging downloads throughout Tuesday as Russia moved to tighten controls on the key channel for both public and private communication in the country.
Iranians have a giant network of proxies for telegram, if the restrictions continue it wont be hard to bypass them for the Russians, just annoying. I am still sad that they might have to, having...

I am still sad that they might have to, having easy access to something for a long while and then having it taken away will be either saddening or angering depending on the person

People use threema where you live? I had a hard enough time convincing my family to switch to signal.
