I've been a Beeper user myself for probably a couple years now, so perhaps that's where the inspiration came from!

I sent an email to the Apollo developer gently probing interest in adapting Apollo to be Reddit-like agnostic through changing the proxy server to return {type: ā€œNotImplementedā€} for capabilities that donā€™t exist on other platforms and handling it in the client accordingly.

Iā€™m trying to delete my old Reddit account but I managed to stuff the credentials into Apollo and now I canā€™t extricate them for a web client session. Bleh-whoopsie.

Did you ever hear back? I would love for Christian to take Apollo to a new platform

No idea what he can do to Christian off the top of my head, but Iā€™ve dealt with Spezā€™ type often and they tend to be delusional and unhinged.

Christian Selig will be fine in all this. Of all the affected parties who got rear ended by Redditā€™s flimsy excuse of ā€œpreventing LLM training on Reddit dataā€ (absurd because scraping public websites is old hat) heā€™s probably the strongest.

I hope Huffman isn't a petty creep and has other distractions that prevents such, but hey, with the maladaptive Musk serving as an unfortunate Silicon Valley "wannabe archetype" for many """leaders""", what you worry about is a reasonable concern and I want to acknowledge that, not dismiss it utterly like I did earlier.

I would urge you not to route everything through a everything-site domain! As a matter of trust, I could not bring myself to throw all of my (necessarily) unencrypted credentials and traffic and data through somebody's webapp: beside the trust problem, there's also the issue of security - that's a lot of traffic flowing through one person's Vercel app.

Instead, normalizing the different sites to an "everything" API would be much better handled locally in ex. Java.

There is potential to do this locally, but there's also the option to self-host.

Or am i missing something and the api translation could work on device without the service?

Currently it's only able to be (optionally self) hosted, but if we get a decent node server up and running on Android it can be done on the device itself.

Right now I've got the nearest think possible to an everything client. My mobile browser, Firefox.

I'm open to working with any developer, with an existing Reddit app that would like to "port" it, or would like to build a new app with compatibility, so feel free to spread the word!

Trying the Alpha right now - how does one login and authenticate with existing accounts?

Edit: reading through the dev's Reddit post... It seems like there're no account sign-ins atm. You can still navigate through subs by using the browse/goto option.

If Infinity for Everything allows me to interact with my primary online/social networks it'll be an easy migration over.
