Bad take IMO. I don’t care what fans ask for, nobody asked for Andor and it was brilliant. There’s been a lot of Star Wars misses but plenty of hits too. Star Wars has not seen the over-saturation that Marvel has so the comparison is a bit unhinged.

For perspective there’s been 32 Marvel films since 2008 and like a dozen TV shows. Since 1977 there’s been 12 Star Wars films…anybody tired of it already just wasn’t that interested to begin with IMO.

I’d love for Glover to spin a take on a Lando show.

Agreed, I was put off of star wars stuff by Boba Fett and later mandalorian stuff to the point that I didn’t get around to Obi-wan but now that I finally got around to watching Andor - my hopes for Disney owned Star Wars content occasionally reaching greatness are much restored. I think this has potential!

I think Solo would have been praised as a fine entry in the franchise if they'd used the exact same story, but had someone other than Han Solo as the lead character. Just change his name and it works.

Solo’s only problem IMO was trying to give Han an arc, especially retreading the arc he already had in the OT. This could have just been a fun standalone heist movie showing the early adventures of Chewie, Han, and Lando but they mucked it up with making it his origin story and the origin story for literally ALL THINGS HAN SOLO including the Kessel Run, his blaster, his ship, and even his own fucking name.

Aside from that I liked it overall but it just felt weighed down by all this bullshit. I thought Aldin did fine, who can truly replace Harrison Ford? Probably nobody and he still did as good a job as could have been.

Qi’ra’s story was sadly maybe the most interesting part and she’s been relegated to being a comic character now thanks to the film’s failure (in Disney’s eyes). Shame.

Casting was great too. Harrison Ford is still #1, but Ehrenriech was as close as we will get. Wish we could have had more with a better plot.

It's more of a "endless spinoffs/extended universe" exhaustion. I'm there to the point that I haven't even seen Andor which is universally praised but I just can't be bothered... I haven't seen Mandalorian season 3, nor almost any other Star War thing for the last year because it's a bit much, I think.

Now, Donald not only starring but writing Lando? That sounds fantastic. I mean, I could be great, I love Donnie! I'm just not sure if I want a Lando thing. Or any more SW crap. I dunno, I'm just so confused about the state of geek culture.

...andor is not simply "extremely good"; it's cut from entirely different cloth than all the twenty-first-century retreads...if you ever enjoyed the original star wars, it rewards a patient viewer with everything we've lamented is missing in the deluge of franchise sequels, spinoffs, and remakes...

...andor stands on its own as art in a way that nothing since 1977 has done, and in that it's exactly what every franchise should aspire to be...

The problem is more that Disney+ doesn't have the output it needs to justify an ongoing subscription (for everyone, those with kids it's a different thing obvs). This will be their only show for that moment, so it actually is targeting everyone.

How can this be better? Teddy Perkins as Lando Calrissian.

I feel like this is beneath them so to speak. Would much rather see them create more original work. Atlanta was fantastic and Swarm was really good. I'm sure the paycheck for this must be extremely handsome, though.
