Anyone else up for "Scott Pilgrim: The Broadway Musical" in 5-10 years?

I tried to play the game and really wanted to like it but couldn't.....the hit boxes were really really weird and jump/avoid pit mechanics were super unfair. Is it supposed to be like that?

Yes, unfortunately. They character leveling up system in my opinion makes it so your characters are under-powered in the beginning, and it makes it feel even more clunky. I have to recommend using cheats to level up your characters, it can be done on the first level, but it's a bit of a grind. After that the game is much easier to get into.

It's one of those games that tried to appeal to the hardcore crowd so much that it makes it difficult to get into if you don't regularly play beat 'em ups.

I don't think it would go over well, tbh.

The casting in the movie was perfect, so it’s good to see that they brought everyone back.

    I’m pretty excited.

As a fan of both the movie and the books this really feels like the best of both worlds with the full movie cast returning and the anime format allowing them to explore the parts of the books that were necessarily cut and condensed for the movie. The animation looks incredible and the designs are all true to the book, I already love it.

But what I’m really stoked for is the music. The movie soundtrack has been in constant rotation for me since 2010 and those Sex Bob-Omb songs were the first songs I learned on my bass (simple, but fun!). I remember hearing that Animaniguchi, who scored the video game, would be also be scoring the anime but I wonder if they’ll also be standing in for Sex Bob-Omb like Beck did in the movie, or if they’ll just reuse the Beck tracks. I’m really hoping for all new songs from Sex Bob-Omb, Crash and The Boys, The Clash At Demonhead, etc., and I certainly wouldn’t mind if they brought back Beck, Broken Social Scene, and Metric to stand in for them, or if they get all new bands instead. Obviously the song in the trailer is new, but it doesn’t sound pixely enough to be Animaniguchi (though I could be wrong). But if the rest of the soundtrack can match the quality of the animation we’re seeing in this trailer, I think this has the potential to be the best version of Scott Pilgrim yet

I absolutely loved both the comic and the move so I'm totally down for this.

Having now finished the show, I have a few final thoughts on the show:

It's fine. In my perspective its value lies in the fact that it's a reboot/remake/reawakening of the over 10 year old movie. It's just novel to see those same characters revisited. Other than that, it's hard to imagine this show makes anyone a fan of the IP but it's like an okay way to kill 200 minutes even if you're not a fan.

Visuals aren't as interesting as the 2010 movie and since the show has a direct relationship with the movie it's hard to not compare the two. I'll say that they get better episode after episode right to the final.

My biggest problem is that the result feels a bit lifeless and empty. I can't exactly put my finger on what's the source of that feeling but the dialogue-light approach definitely isn't helping.

It's okay. I'm glad it got made.

This topic has come back up. Um... I have heard news about it

Scott Pilgrim Takes Off SPOILERS Ok, fully disclaimer: I haven't watched it, but I've checked two places to confirm it: once again, we have a work that is NOT faithful to the source.

Short version: Scott is in the first episode, and then is gone for almost all the rest of the series. He literally... takes off during the show. It's even been suggested you could call this Ramona Flowers vs. the World. If that's your cup of tea, awesome... but I expect most of us wanted it to be about SCOTT.

I've lost so much faith in Netflix adaptations.

Don't blame Netflix, the show had Bryan Lee O'Malley and Edgar Wright on staff and they wanted nothing to do with yet another adaptation. You can miss the show that could have been, but given the choice between this and nothing, I can't say that I would rather have nothing.
