I really like older Star Trek plots that revolved around slow moral conflict and deliberation between the crew, each adding their own perspective and nuance. The rational Vulcan, the emotional human, the idealistic ensign, the wise captain. Now it’s deus ex Burnham with Burnham crashing in to kick hostile alien ass.

Even if someone else gets their time to shine and save the day, she always has a major part to play in that success -- where that person couldn't do whatever task without her direct involvement.
I also hate how the last fifteen minutes of each episode is pretty much 'sorry for hurting your feelings' or 'I'll try and be a better person' --- barf. We need a hard limit of ONE reconciliation / lesson per episode! :)
I checked out of Disco for the second season, but decided to catch up a few weeks in due to my TV club sticking with it. I think I'm actually done now.
Presumably that means you've been watching the first 3 seasons of it. What about 4 broke the cycle for you? Or rather, what did you like about the show for 3 seasons?

Prodigy actually feels like it has the best mix of serialized storytelling with a Trek Feel, so it doesn't just go down like a giant movie in the Star Trek universe.

You can also use the code PEAKSALE to get one month free where Paramount Plus service is available. And there's pretty much a new code every month, so you can cancel and re-up as needed.
And if you're in the US and have T-Mobile, they're giving away a year of P+ too. It's admittedly the ad-enabled tier, but I won't complain for a free year.

To me, Disco is a weird show for a Trek fan to watch. It feels like a super hero show with a budget. Unremarkable melodrama, but amusing enough to watch if it's there.

The animated series IMO do a better job at nailing the tone, and hopefully Strange New Worlds is a return to form.
There's too many streaming services now. We are back to the days with expensive Cable TV and confusing channel packages, which streaming was supposed to solve.

I was always confused by this. Back when licensed streaming "solved" the channel package problem it was not more than a few years old. There was no technological or structural reason for streaming to prevent licensing conflicts. It's just that at the time if you had the rights to The Office and wanted to get extra income from cable-cutters Netflix was the best short term solution. So you signed an expiring contract and built your own platform in the meantime.
If giving one particular private company a monopoly over a market (or licensing media to every streaming company indiscriminately) made copyright owners the most money they'd keep doing it.
I honestly had little reason to keep watching this show. Now I have none.

The show is pretty, though :)

It'll be a bit, but Kurtzman confirmed the other day that they're still going ahead with the Section 31 series, starring Yeoh.

Too much effort for a show I only watched because it was there... 🤷
Can't do anything about that unfortunately.
