Which isn't a bad thing in and of itself. Why waste time writing your own software to reinvent the wheel when it's already been done for you? It just leads to a lack of understanding of the underlying functionality.

Open world games always had an annoying limitation to them, where you can only interact with the world at large in incredibly specific ways.
With the Civil War subplot in Skyrim, you're only able to select between supporting the Empire or the Stormcloaks. You can't make a grab at the throne for yourself, install someone else as the High King/Queen, descend the land into anarchy, split the country into multiple fiefdoms, etc.
God knows how difficult it'd be to actually make the game though.

Comment on Daily Tildes discussion - what do we need to change to make comment tags reasonable to re-enable? in ~tildes.official
Administrator I think the invisible option is probably the best bet. The second that "Noise" or "Flame" becomes the majority of tags, people are just going to keep hitting the same tag. You see the same thing...I think the invisible option is probably the best bet. The second that "Noise" or "Flame" becomes the majority of tags, people are just going to keep hitting the same tag. You see the same thing with downvotes where people just pile on until the comment entirely disappears.

- Would it be possible to have the "Post a comment" box placed higher up, above the comments?
- Is there a description of the markdown for Tildes? Can't seem to find it.
- With the tagging of posts, are you planning on implementing some kind of false tagging check? A political, religious, etc. comment can be tagged incorrectly by someone who disagrees with the comment and be accidentally filtered out from what I can tell
The demand for skilled, and experienced, developers is incredibly high at the moment, so no (sane) company is going to put mid-level or higher positions behind a barrier like that if possible. Companies advertising low/entry-level positions, however, can be a lot more selective with whom they interview.
So while the intention of the article is good, it's hard to convince people just starting out in their careers to take the moral high-ground on this position and pass up opportunities.
