We finished His Dark Materials last night, which was my favorite series of books growing up. I never used to cry at movies/TV/books, but I have become such a sap over the years that I was crying and then laughing at how much I was crying. I think the series does the books justice, as much as a TV show can. It’s a lovely coming of age story that has sentimental value to me, and I wasn’t disappointed with it.

    • I got a big raise at work (nearly 10%).
    • I started a successful bike camping meetup, and I went on four bike camping trips.
    • I got back into crocheting.
    • I redid our guest room into a hobby/craft room.

    Edit:

    • My partner and I threw a commitment ceremony/party, and it was a blast! Not sure how I forgot this one, lol.

    • We put an offer in on a house, it was accepted, so I guess we’re going to be moving, barring anything too expensive in the inspection on Monday. This is my first home-buying experience!

I’m so glad you’re enjoying the series! It’s definitely a hidden gem in the sci-fi world. The later books are written even better, as the author gets more comfortable. :)

I'm really glad my parents did not instill this kind of thinking in me. I still do get fancied up for very special occasions (light makeup, nice earrings, and a necklace), but for the most part I shoot for utility/practicality in how I live. I also love thrifting and buying used in general, which goes a long way.

My partner and I looked at a house much closer to downtown and with a little bodega/bar/restaurant + coffee shop + park right across the street. We've always said we wouldn't move from our current place unless it was for a better location, and this definitely checks all those boxes. I'd also be able to park my travel trailer there, since the driveway is much flatter than our current one.

I currently have zero stake in our current place. (I pay rent.) So this will be my first home-buying/owning experience.

Mine has that, but it’s super uncomfortable to sit back there. I have the Rad Wagon 4, which is the budget version of the Tern GSD.

I switched my main vehicle to an ebike over the summer, and it has been such a joy to ride. I’ve ridden bikes for fun/fitness/utility for most of my life, but an ebike is the only thing that has really felt like a car replacement. I do wish they’d make an affordable tandem ebike. We still use the car when it’s two of us going somewhere, and my partner doesn’t want to buy his own ebike.

I’ve been doing the same! Only working on one (big) project right now, but another batch of yarn arrived today for a second, smaller project. I had to rip out all most all of the work on my big project recently because I goofed and was using the wrong stitch for 75% of it. Oops.

I generally enjoy exploration and resource management games with some life sim stuff thrown in. Definitely not a fan of any rogue like games.
