Are there any decent niche subs on the rise right now? Most of the ones that make it on /r/all are all kinda trash and feel like theres some agenda behind the posts

Thats the most beautiful description of evolution that I've ever seen

Another way to put it might be that we're around 4.5 billion years of brutally field-tested spaghetti-code ahead of any AGI right now... and we haven't got the source, just the compiled binaries. Reverse engineering that is not going to be easy.

    Phantom Thread

    There Will Be Blood

    Inglourious Basterds

    Pulp Fiction

Or if we're talking about seasons then I do like to binge watch Fleabag whenever I'm feeling sad, random episodes of Breaking Bad are nice too (mostly ones from the final season).

If you're not that worried about privacy then Xiaomi phones are really really good for their price, I recently got a note 8 for <200 USD and its holding up pretty good. Also if you're even a little tech savvy then you can unlock the bootloader and install Lineage OS or something on it so the privacy concerns shouldnt be that much anyways

On Saturday have to head to my university to go check some papers (am working as a TA). And then after that will probably start watching The Wire and start doing a course on Django/Javascipt that I've been eyeing for a while (also watch a few videos of Statistical Rethinking on YouTube). Besides all of this have a huge catalogue of books piled up that Ive been meaning to read for a long time now so will do that too in between breaks

EDIT: also recently I got the adobe creative cloud, planning on learning lightroom/photoshop/premiere pro/after effects/illustrator, anybody have any tips on which one I should start off with?

If you're concerned about technology even a little bit then you should consider moving towards Open Source software:

    Some recommended alternatives:

    • Firefox instead of Chrome
    • Linux Mint instead of Windows
    • SumatraPDF instead of Adobe
    • Fdroid instead of the Google Playstore
    • DuckDuckGo instead of Google Search

If you are looking for anything specific or wanting to get into the philosophy of why opensource then there are tons and tons of resources available online, for example just one that I found out through a simple search https://www.findbestopensource.com/projects

    and also

https://www.gnu.org/philosophy/shouldbefree.en.html (btw "free" software is different from "open source" software).

And lastly, this is a great YouTube channel; it covers a lot of stuff but two of his major talking points are open source software and linux

For people who dont know anything about it, visit /r/pakistan and then /r/india and see the stark change in opinion in what transpired, the truth lies somewhere in the middle of what both sides are propagating so you'll have to form your own opinion
