Sequence of events so far:
2/14/19: Pulwama Terrorist Attacks - A terrorist group based in Pakistan attacks an (edit: Indian) police force caravan, killing 41
2/25/19: India bombs terrorist training camp in Pakistan near the Line of Control (de facto border)
2/26/19: 2 Indian Air Force fighter jets (India claims just one so far) shot down by Pakistan over Pakistani Kashmir, pilots apparently taken into custody; India claims Pakistani jet shot down, also over Pakistani Kashmir
This represents a worryingly quick chain of escalation. Hopefully, cooler heads prevail. As both nations are nuclear powers, a war between them has the potential to cause immense destruction in both countries, as well as to the world as a whole.
In case anyone else is wondering, Pulwama is a district in India, but in a location (Jammu and Kashmir) whose land rights are disuputed amongst Pakistan, India, and China.

According to today's press conference by Indian MEA at 3:15 pm IS, one pilot is "missing in action". IAF hasn't admitted that the pilot is in Pakistan army's custody.

Did India ask Pakistan to do so and they refused, or did they just decide to cross the border and attack the camp without asking for permission ?

For people who dont know anything about it, visit /r/pakistan and then /r/india and see the stark change in opinion in what transpired, the truth lies somewhere in the middle of what both sides are propagating so you'll have to form your own opinion

The truth doesn't always lie somewhere in the middle but regardless of where the truth lies in this case, it's a pretty shitty and scary situation; Two nuclear powers with over a billion people living in them are potentially on the brink of open conflict with one another. And in that situation, the less said by those who don't actually know what they're talking about the better, IMO.
The amount of bravado between the two countries right now is terrifying. You can search through Twitter and see account after account warmongering for either side....

India is giving dangerous threats of war to Pakistan. India does not know that Pakistan's kid's are also ready to war. We are born to be martyred. We are not afraid of death & war. We are the followers of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ). Death is our passion and faith.
How can you forget the 1948 Kashmir War, 1965 War and Kargil war, still want one more, But it will be last if you try to mess with Pakistan. India will become a part of history. Ek tha Hindustan Jo apny Jangi junoon ki waja sy Mit Gaya. #DontMessWithPakistan

I don't think either of these countries should have been allowed to develop nuclear arms. Animosity between them is constant and unyielding, and conflict is inevitable. They are not nations who have ever had to note anything beyond their immediate surroundings, the notion of the influence on geopolitics when they conflict is entirely lost on them.

There is an update on the captured Indian airmen who was shot down.
Pakistan's prime minister says his country will return a captured Indian pilot on Friday as a "peace gesture," after his plane was shot down amid airstrikes by both sides this week that have brought the nuclear neighbors close to all-out war.
This is very welcome news to me and should hopefully ease tensions, at least a little bit.

While Pakistan claimed it shot down two fighter jets, India claims that only one of its aircraft was shot down and only one pilot was "missing in action" and they also claim they shot down a Pakistan aircraft.

I wonder how many of the accounts pushing for escalation are bot accounts or actual nationalists.
The nationalist rhetoric between these countries has always been this insane. The saber rattling doesn’t seem that out of the ordinary to me.

If you want conversation about this, why don't you start some yourself? What do you want to talk about regarding this matter?

Only one pilot was captured (Abhinandan Varthaman), and he has been returned to India just a few hours ago.
