In those game you just kind of "spawn" in the middle of a world where you don't understand anything. You start killing things thinking everyone around you is a bad guy because that's what you were taught as a gamer. Then you start to learn about the lore, how each enemy has its own purpose in the world and the lines start to blurr between good and bad. Nothing is explained to you directly, you understand it by the way the enemies act or which objects they drop.
Then you realize the complex geopolitical dynamics that tie the world together. You never know who's right, who's telling the truth and who isn't. All you hear are legends and tales.

I guess it makes sense from a marketing pov since launching a new game is better to attract new players.

Like Schopenhauer said, everybody seeks to avoid disdain or humiliation and the validation from others. The wise man must distinguish between his own value and the value bestowed upon him externally. Vanity is the basis of the will for acknowledgment. Happiness is not to be sought by the recognition of others because it is ever changing and fluctuating.

Recently, I read a book by the psychiatrist Scott Peck. In that book, he says that love is not a feeling, it's an investment. In that sense, the common definition of love is actually the definition of lust. Peck argues that love starts when the feeling of "falling in love" stops (ie : when you don't feel the same about the other person as you did before).
Love is "the will to extend one's self for the purpose of nurturing one's own or another's spiritual growth".
His perspective kind of change my view regarding love. You can lust for a lot of people, but you can only love a few, because your time to do the act of loving is limited. In that sense, really loving someone isn't feeling "in love", but helping that person grow as you grow yourself. You can perfectly choose not to lead that kind of life. After all, with this definition of love, you don't gain anything from loving someone as opposed to only being sexually attracted to them.
Personally, it gives me hope for my future relationships because I know I always end up falling out of "love"; it's a natural phenomenon. What I want to do is find someone I want to continue investing in after I don't feel like it.

Both men and women are responsible for using contraception or not using it. If the woman wants the man to wear a condom and he doesn't want to, they can either compromise or she can simply not have intercourse with him.

Also, men suffer big consequences from their sexual choices. How about when both people don't use protection, the woman gets pregnant, the man doesn't want the baby, she wants to keep it, he has to pay for her and the baby that he didn't want in the first place ?

I'm French and I think there's too much conflict between France and Germany to give clear direction for the EU.

The problem is not a shortage of ideas about how to move forward. Emmanuel Macron, in two speeches, at the Sorbonne, and when he received the Charlemagne Prize for European Unity, has articulated a clear vision for Europe’s future. But German Chancellor Angela Merkel has effectively thrown cold water on his proposals, suggesting, for example, risibly small amounts of money for investment in areas that urgently need it.
The central problem in a currency area is how to correct exchange-rate misalignments like the one now affecting Italy. Germany’s answer is to put the burden on the weak countries already suffering from high unemployment and low growth rates. We know where this leads: more pain, more suffering, more unemployment, and even slower growth. Even if growth eventually recovers, GDP never reaches the level it would have attained had a more sensible strategy been pursued. The alternative is to shift more of the burden of adjustment on the strong countries, with higher wages and stronger demand supported by government investment programs.

We have seen the first and second acts of this play many times already. A new government is elected, promising to do a better job negotiating with the Germans to end austerity and design a more reasonable structural reform program. If the Germans budge at all, it is not enough to change the economic course. Anti-German sentiment increases, and any government, whether center-left or center-right, that hints at necessary reforms is thrown out of office. Anti-establishment parties gain. Gridlock emerges.
Across the Eurozone, political leaders are moving into a state of paralysis: citizens want to remain in the EU, but also want an end to austerity and the return of prosperity. They are told they can’t have both.

In my opinion, all this talk about national identity is besides the point and only serves political interests without addressing what is really going wrong. The whole system is failing and no real measures will be taken to make it right when discussions are about immigration and nationalism.

First of all, the EU is borrowing in a foreign currency, unlike the US which can print the money it owes. Hence, we see things like the Greek-style crisis.
There is a free mobility of labor that allows workers to escape debt burdens meaning inefficient allocation of labor. Also free mobility of capital and goods without tax harmonization between countries.

Contrary to popular belief, the last thing EU needs is more emphasis on structural reform within countries which exacerbate current problem of inefficiency and aggregate demand. The real problem is the structure of the eurozone itself.

    What is needed is :

    • A common fiscal framework
    • Mutalization of debt (eurobonds, leads to lower interst rates, provides more room for expansionary policies)
    • A common financial system (banking union) with system wide regulation and deposit

I watched the god of war documentary and it was kind of sad to see what people in the studio had to go through in their personal life to make the game. Even though it was delayed by a few month, they worked their ass off for years.

As the industry advances, we get to have games that have an incredible amount of detail. In return, they take years to make and seem to require for developers to make tremendous sacrifices.
I wonder what the solution is ? Recruiting more people ? Taking more time before publishing them ?

Oh I really did not like Shovel Knight. Here are my main problems with it :

    • The level design is pretty bad for a platformer. It almost feels procedurally generated. I wasn't impressed by any of the rooms in each level. What I want is to feel like the developer is constantly testing me, making me become better or introducing new platforming elements. In Shovel Knight, the challenge feels inconsistent to me and some of the rooms really have no thought put into them.

    • The colors. Oh god do I hate these flashy colors. Pixel art is getting really tiring as it is, but coupled with these atrocious colors, it becomes even more redundant. The shades of yellow and blue are especially ugly.

Other than those two points, the game was ok. The controls were tight and the music was alright.

Blizzard failed to make their game better past the first few expansions. The majority of players are really disappointed with WoW. At this point, when a game company is clearly bad, players should be moving on to something else, creating new opportunities for other developers. I know that players won't be satisfied with anything else at the moment, I just hate that Blizzard gets rewarded for recycling their content.
It's sad that we have to roll back to more than 10 years ago to have fun again.

Furthermore, it's definitely not something I would encourage other companies to do. The beautiful thing about creation is that it brings new things. When you buy a remake, you're basically telling investors "it's ok to not take risks, we will buy the same game multiple times, you don't have to be innovative". I know that's an exaggeration but it's just to make my point clearer.
